In a recent interview with Politico, Presidential candidate Senator Sam Brownback said he wants to advocate a "bleeding heart" conservatism that includes everything from protecting the rights of the unborn to increased activism on behalf of the war-ravaged Darfur region in Sudan.
"I want to expand the compassionate conservative agenda," Brownback said. "I believe life begins in the womb, and we should protect it. But it extends to a child in Darfur or someone living in poverty."
Politico is co-sponsoring with MSNBC the first Republican presidential candidate debate at the Reagan Presidential Library tonight.
