Is libreligion disappearing?

from the Catholic League
ARE LIBERAL RELIGIONS DISAPPEARING?

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the data just released by the National Council of Churches:

The 2010 edition of the Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches is out and the results are strikingly similar to the overall pattern that has been evident for many decades: the more conservative the religion on moral issues, the more it continues to grow (or lose relatively few members); and the more liberal it is, the more it declines.

The big winners as reported in this year’s volume are the Roman Catholic Church, which is up by 1.5 percent; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), which grew by 1.7 percent; and the Assemblies of God, a Pentecostal group, which jumped by 1.3 percent. Catholics now stand at 68 million, literally dwarfing every other religion in the nation. The big losers, as usual, are the mainline Protestant denominations.

What are we to make of this? The more “relevant” a religion tries to be, the more irrelevant it becomes. Seems like everyone save for liberals can figure this out. That’s good news for the traditionalists, and lousy news for the religion-lite crowd. It’s not global warming they should fear, it’s their own demise.

Gloal warming an expensive hoax?

The best summary of the Global Warming debacle is at Rasmussen Reports.
Growing up in New York makes you prone to cynicism, so I would just say "follow the money". Global warming made a fortune for Al Gore and his cronies. Cap and trade legislation threatens to take from the taxpayer and reward Obama cronies who have 'green' industries. These people have a livelihood to lose if global warming is a hoax.
As it certainly appears to be. Faith rather than science. And they criticize intelligent design advocates!

Now, contrast that with the pro-life movement. Who makes money being a pro-lifer?
We have nothing to gain, in fact, under the Obama Administration, we have a lot to lose.

You can judge a movement by one thing: ulterior motives.

Voice of the Faithless in financial straits

The New York Times has a piece about Voice of the Faithful the Boston based group which fed off the priestly scandals while pushing a 1970's agenda of married and women priests.
Leaders of the group, Voice of the Faithful, sent out a fund-raising letter to members saying it needed $60,000 by the end of this month.
I attended a meeting five years ago between VOTF and Bishop Murphy. I was the only person under 72. Two white haired members were saying goodnight this way, "Peace, love and Tie-dye man".
No wonder they are fading away, their agenda is morally bankrupt. No one approves of covering priestly abuse, but VOTF was merely using this crisis to push an agenda without support in the clergy and laity.
Good riddance!

Malkin responds to Letterman

"Will you teach your son to talk about women and girls the way you talk about Sarah Palin and her daughters?
You called the married 45-year-old mother, grandmother and Alaska governor a "slutty flight attendant" on your national TV talk show because she happens to be a tall, beautiful and dynamic public figure who doesn't look, walk or talk the way you think she should."

This is the essential point, because Chelsea Clinton's mom is PC, she has never been attacked by late night comics. She is off limits. But if the liberals can manage to damage Sarah Palin enough by 2012 to make her unelectable they are sparing Barack Obama any real competition in that election.
AND there's more, a female radio talk show host in Rhode Island today sneered at Palin's charges that such trash talk about underage girls makes them more vulnerable to abuse. I have news for you, Sarah's right. When the level of public discourse is so gutter language low, everyone in society is brought down. I have seen how degraded school age girls are in ads, MTV, the internet and sitcoms. It's time to stop objectifying women, Mr Letterman, even conservative women, and try some big boy jokes. There is a name for your obsession with degrading women, MISOGYNIST.

Al Gore to kids: don't listen to your parents

It always puzzled me that subscribers to the Culture of Death mindset have few if any children. and those who love life have many. Soon we should outnumber them, and save the world. But there's one flaw in this plan; they own the media, the public schools, the universities and Hollywood. They steal our children's hearts and minds if we aren't vigilant. Glenn Beck and Fr Jonathan Morris discussed this on his show last night. Fr Morris reaffirmed the Church's teaching that parents are their children's first teachers, and Glenn compared Al Gore's speech to the indoctrination of the Hitler Youth.
On the tape, Gore states: "When I was your age and the civil rights revolution was unfolding, and we kids asked our parents and their generation, 'Explain to me again why it's okay for the law to officially discriminate against people because of their skin color?'
"And when our parents' generation couldn't answer that question, that's when the law started to change. There are some things about our world that you know that older people don't know," he continued.

This tactic is nothing new. I remember the biggest argument I ever got in with my dad in elementary school in the mid-seventies is when our 6th grade teacher, Ms Koons, sent us home to grade our parents with an "Are You Prejudiced?" test. I told my father he was a racist because he said that the Jewish people are a race and a religion. The test said no, but now I know who was right. Dad, of course!
Separation of parents and children ideologically is what public schools do best. It's what they are for, according to Adolf Hitler. Guess who outlawed homeschooling in Germany?
So did John Dewey
"Dewey believed that neither traditional moral norms nor traditional philosophical ethics were up to the task of coping with the problems raised by these dramatic transformations. Traditional morality was adapted to conditions that no longer existed. Hidebound and unreflective, it was incapable of changing so as to effectively address the problems raised by new circumstances. Traditional philosophical ethics sought to discover and justify fixed moral goals and principles by dogmatic methods. Its preoccupation with reducing the diverse sources of moral insight to a single fixed principle subordinated practical service to ordinary people to the futile search for certainty, stability, and simplicity.
In practice, both traditional morality and philosophical ethics served the interests of elites at the expense of most people. To address the problems raised by social change, moral practice needed to be thoroughly reconstructed, so that it contained within itself the disposition to respond intelligently to new circumstances. Dewey saw his reconstruction of philosophical ethics as a means to effect this practical reconstruction."

The Mother of all Battles SCOTUS is coming

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been diagnosed with lethal Pancreatic Cancer. I pray she repents of her staunch support of abortion before God calls her home, so that she rejoices in the mercy of God rather than suffers in His justice.
THEN comes the battle of Obama's presidency; the battle for the balance of the Supreme Court. Before the sudden upsurge of Republican oppostion to the budget and Tom Daschle's nomination to HHS, I would have been cringing at the near certain prospect of an uber liberal nominee sailing through the Senate confirmation process, just as Justice Ginsburg, an ACLU lawyer, was confirmed 99 to 1.
But now that the Republicans found their backbones, with the help of millions of your emails, I pray we can give whoever may replace Justice Ginsburg one heck of a battle.
Like Ted Kennedy gave Justices Sam Alito and John Roberts.
May God grant him final repentance as well.
Both Ginsburg and Kennedy will have to answer to a Higher Court soon.

The liberals are getting frustrated with me!

Deborah Kotz mentioned me in her blog for US News and World Report, "And a blogger for a Catholic blogspot, Causa Nostrae Laetitiae, warns that if the women's-rights activists succeed at sinking the new rule, 'Catholic and other health care professionals who follow their conscience...will be driven out of their jobs.'"
I am on the top tier of Wikio News for crazed atheist PZ Meyers who has desecrated the Eucharist, this blog is floating to the top of search engines where it is clogging up the wheels of the liberal machine with inconvenient truths. That is exactly what we Catholic bloggers are meant to do, comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
Long live freedom of the internet!

Liberals bothered by Ave Maria's reputation as a 'clean town'

USA Today has an article about Ave Maria University.
On Saturday, the town will open its doors to the public. Next week, Ave Maria University will move from its cramped quarters in Naples to a permanent campus here, which sits on what used to be about 1,000 acres of tomato plants.
Ave Maria has not been without controversy. The Florida American Civil Liberties Union has threatened to sue if the town bans birth control, as Monaghan suggested in a speech

What, a town without birth control in the drugstores, or pornography on cable, what is this guy a Nazi or something? Sounds like the world I was born into in 1962, a world of Gidget and Patty Duke innocence, which within 5 years had literally turned upside down, with HAIR and LSD.

That hasn't appeased the ACLU of Florida, which threatened a lawsuit. Monaghan's "comments on the record give us legitimate concerns about the community he's creating," says Executive Director Howard Simon. Although many religious groups, from the Amish to Hasidic Jews, have their own communities, "constitutional issues arise when the religious group wants to act as if it also has governmental authority."

In other words, we'll tolerate crazy Amish and Hasidim who want to live decently, but no clean Catholics!

The USA already is home to more than 200 Catholic colleges and universities. But Monaghan and his administrators say Ave Maria's campus will reflect a faithfulness to Catholic teachings that they do not see elsewhere. The campus will have single-sex dorms, for instance. And every residence hall will have a chapel.
"We make no apologies for seeking to uphold Catholic moral teachings," particularly when it comes to relations between men and women, Ave Maria University President Nicholas Healy says. "We would not approve of or facilitate something that is very common, I'm told, on college campuses today, hooking up and sleeping around, and … binge drinking."

He's right. It's a terrible scandal for the Church, not only aberrant theology and morality taught at so-called Catholic universities, but the lax moral climate in the dorms, where many students are corrupted. I remember Mother Angelica on her TV show, counseling a college student in one of the above corrupt universities, "dearie, you're paying those people all that money and you're losing your soul. That's not very bright of you!"

As a parting shot, USA Today mentions that Tom Monaghan is a college drop-out. No big letters after his name. Implication; how dare this undereducated dolt think he can start a university? The liberals, both in an out of the Church are waiting for this grand experiment to fail. I hope they are disappointed.

Two years ago, I drove from my brother's home on the east coast of Florida, through the tomato fields of Immokalee where they were constructing the Ave Maria campus, and into the housing development clubhouse they were renting to house the growing school. There, I found a bastion of Catholic culture with intelligent, polite students. I always measure the character of a college student by how they react to children. I work on two college campuses where I wouldn't dream of bringing my girls, because of the indecent dress, rudeness, foul language, and filthy, profane conversations they'd encounter. Not so at Ave Maria. Girls largely wore skirts, and were delighted to see children, many missing their numerous siblings at home. Guys were neat, and chivalrous opening doors, and offering directions. Many were just the type I hope my girls bring home to meet us someday.

We visited the Blessed Sacrament which is in Perpetual Adoration, passed by a coffee house, where intellectual discussion was taking place, not rude adolescent posturing, and found a Catholic conference given for the benefit of the local community. Students were processing around campus, led by nuns in full habit, saying the rosary. Afterwards, students were given a Strauss-style waltz lesson in preparation for the 19th century ball to be held the next day. My girls and I were entranced at the sight of the twirling partners, and the gorgeous music. I thought to ask if they had graduate programs for moms. Now, this is the type of college I could trust my precious daughters to!

Three Favorable Decisions from the Supreme Court Today

And Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg isn't happy about it, she's not used to writing dissents.
