Sarah Palin's letter from God

When the news outlets rushed up to Alaska like sharks smelling blood in the water, they were disappointed in the lack of raw meat in Sarah Palin's newly-released emails.  Instead of corruption and vitriol they saw the correspondence of  a powerful,  hard-working, God-fearing woman. Those of us who appreciate her, were vindicated. And more than a little pleased.
I hope Sarah doesn't mind my sharing this beautiful letter she wrote just before the birth of her son Trig. She wrote it as a letter from God, explaining His gift of a son with Down syndrome. Oddly enough, I wrote a very similar letter myself for Catholic Mom.  This 'coincidence' (though those of us who have loved Our Lord for any length of time know there are no coincidences in His Kingdom) proves that God works mightily in the hearts of those whom He chooses to parent a special needs child.  You can hear His voice in both of these letters.
He makes  special parents understand, right at the outset, that raising this child is a gift from His Hand, and that it will profoundly deepen our perspective, and make us more the people He wants us to be, because, as Sarah and I both say, "I only want the very best for you".
Sarah, now, more than ever, you are my soul sister in Christ. May the good God strengthen you in whatever path you serve Him. Your very family life is a witness to the eternal destiny of each of us, and the central importance of the family in society. Your love for your special needs son is an affront to the Culture of Death:  that's why they revile you and persecute you so intensely. You are carrying their guilt as surely as Christ did when He carried His cross, and you do it with love and hope, refusing to surrender to bitterness! You are victorious in conquering the power of hatred against you by your love of Our Lord! This is an awe-inspiring feat!
Sometimes you spit in the eye of the Culture of Death, just to let it know that you aren't cowed by its dark hold on our nation. You know you serve a mighty God whose justice may tarry but will come, it will surely come for each of us. You are doing His will, and do not fear the consequences of defying the Culture of Death. May our other political, and religious leaders find similar courage, and take up their crosses and follow Christ.

Here is Palin's entire letter:
To the Sisters, Brother, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends of Trig Paxson Van Palin (or whatever you end up naming him!):
I am blessing you with this surprise baby because I only want the best for you. I've heard your prayers that this baby will be happy and healthy, and I've answered them because I only want the best for you!
I heard your heart when you hinted that another boy would fit best in the Palin family, to round it out and complete that starting five line-up.
Though another girl would be so nice, you didn't think you could ask for what you REALLY wanted, but I knew, so I gave you a boy because I only want the best for you!
Then, I put the idea in your hearts that his name should be 'Trig', because it's so fitting, with two Norse meanings: "True" and "Brave Victory". You also have a Bristol Bay relative with that name, so I knew it would be best for you!
Then, I let Trig's mom have an exceptionally comfortable pregnancy so she could enjoy every minute of it, and I even seemed to rush it along so she could wait until near the end to surprise you with the news - that way Piper wouldn't have so long to wait and count down so many days - just like Christmastime when you have to wait, impatiently, for that special day to finally open your gift? (Or the way the Palmas look forward to birthday celebrations that go on for three, four days_ you all really like cake.) I know you, I knew you'd be better off with just a short time to wait!
Then, finally, I let Trig's mom and dad find out before he was born that this little boy will truly be a GIFT. They were told in early tests that Trig may provide more challenges, and more joy, than what they ever may have imagined or ever asked for.
Sarah Palin and Trig by an Alaskan campfire, 2010
At first the news seemed unreal and sad and confusing. But I gave Trig's mom and dad lots of time to think about it because they needed lots of time to understand that everything will be OK, in fact, everything will be great, because I only want the best for you!
I've given Trig's mom and dad peace and joy as they wait to meet their new son. I gave them a happy anticipation because they asked me for that.
I'll give all of you the same happy anticipation and strength to deal with Trig's challenges, but I won't impose on you... I just need to know you want to receive my offer to be with all of you and help you everyday to make Trig's life a great one.
This new person in your life can help everyone put things in perspective and bind us together and get everyone focused on what really matters.
The baby will expand your world and let you see and feel things you haven't experienced yet. He'll show you what "true, brave victory" really means as those who love him will think less about self and focus less on what the world tells you is "normal" or "perfect°.
You will grow and be blessed with greater understanding that will he born along with Trig.Trig will be his dad's little buddy and he'll wear Carhartts while he learns to tinker in the garage. He'll love to be read to, he'll want to play goalie, and he'll steal his mom's heart just like Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper did.
And Trig will be the cuddly, innocent, mischievous, dependent little brother that his siblings have been waiting for_in fact Trig will - in some diagnostic ways - always be a mischievous, dependent little brother, because I created him a bit different than a lot of babies born into this world today.
Every child is created special, with awesome purpose and amazing potential. Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed up world you live in down there on earth. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome. Doctors call it "Down's Syndrome", and Downs kids have challenges, but can bring you much delight and more love than you can ever imagine! Just wait and see, let me prove this, because I only want the best for you!
Some of the rest of the world may not want him, but take comfort in that because the world will not compete for him. Take care of him and he will always be yours!
Trig's mom and dad don't want people to focus on the baby's extra chromosome. They're human, so they haven't known how to explain this to people who are so caring and are interested in this new little Alaskan. Sarah and Todd want people to share in the joy of this gift I'm giving to the Palin family, and the greater Alaska family.
Many people won't understand_ and I understand that. Some will think Trig should not be allowed to be born because they fear a Downs child won't be considered "perfect" in your world. (But tell me, what do you earthlings consider "perfect" or even "normal" anyway? Have you peeked down any grocery store isle, or school hallway, or into your office lunchroom lately? Or considered the odd celebrities you celebrate as "perfect" on t.v.? Have you noticed I make 'em all shapes and sizes? Believe me, there is no "perfect"!)
Many people will express sympathy, but you don't want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this.
I know it will take time to grasp this and come to accept that I only want the best for you, and I only give my best. Remember though: "My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts- for as the heavens are higher than the earth, my ways are higher than yours!"
I wrote that all down for you in the Good Book! Look it up! You claim that you believe me - now it's time to live out that belief!
Please look to me as this new challenge and chapter of life unfolds in front of you. I promise to equip you. I won't give you anything you can't handle. I am answering your prayers. Trig can't wait to meet you. I'm giving you ONLY THE BEST!
Love,
Trig's Creator, Your Heavenly Father

Victory for the true feminists!

It was such an exciting day yesterday to hear about how an authentic feminist, Sarah Palin, a woman who cleaned up corruption in Alaska, bucked the establishment both that of corrupt male politicians AND corrupt, pro-death feminists who say you can't be pro-life and powerful.
WRONG!
Women (and men) finally have a choice when it comes to female candidates. Carly Fiorino has the business acumen AND the pro-life credentials to make her a principled, COMPTETENT candidate to root our corruption, overspending and pro-death Senators.

Bye, Bye Boxer!

Here comes Sarah!

Jammy Wearing Fool has a great piece on the left's visceral reaction to the phenomenal success of Sarah Palin's book.
I have one thing to say; Sour Grapes!
It comes out on November 17. She'll be on Oprah the day before. The queen of talk shows meets the queen of politics.
Don't miss it!

Denying health care to the disabled

Sarah Palin has made her fears known about whether Obamacare will cover her son Trig in her Wall Street Journal piece. Deacon Fournier has a piece in Catholic Online about another Sarah whose child was denied health care and died under the British Health System.
"She is not the only woman named Sarah whose words fed my serious reservations today. The other woman is named Sarah Capewell. Her tragic story of the loss of her little son made me even more cautious over where some of the alleged “Health Care Reform” plans may be headed. I read an article in the “UK Daily Mail”, entitled 'Doctors told me it was against the rules to save my premature baby'. It was written by Vanessa Allen and Andrew Levy. It detailed the horrific failed plight of Sarah Capewell to save her own child from Government Health care rationing in the U.K. She lost her son Jayden due to the decision of the NHS, the Health Care System in Great Britain - a system similar to what some have proposed for the United States of America - to let him die, for economic reasons. They had also refused to treat her in her efforts, while she was pregnant, to prolong his time in her womb and slow an early birth. Over economic concerns and alleged efficiency they refused any attempts to save Jaydon. "

Sarah Palin says Obamacare is "downright evil"

As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!
The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."
Spoken with conviction. As the mother of a child with Down syndrome and an elderly mother with advanced cancer, I have the same gut fear that Obamacare would kill them both.
And I too say hell no!

Trig is the reason why Sarah evokes such vitriol from women

This image is why Sarah felt that for the good of her family she had better step down from the Governorship. Can you blame her? Here is the original photo.
Kevin Burke on NRO has really nailed the cause of the hostility; post abortion trauma/guilt in this article. Trig is the trigger of many painful emotions for women who chose to abort babies with disabilities and without.
"Some of the very personal and often uncharitable criticism of vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her family may have a relationship to the collective grief, shame, and guilt from personal involvement in the abortion of an unborn child. Because abortion is usually a deeply repressed sensitive area of complicated grief, when a news story touches on abortion related issues, the common response is often one of the following:
Avoidance.

Reactive defensiveness, hyper sensitivity, and angry attacks to compensate for the emotional vulnerability this issue surfaces.

Some will recognize in their troubled souls the need to reach out for healing and the hope of reconciliation and peace. "

You can tell he hit the mark from the pitch of the shill hysteria of Wonkette's response. and the comments which follow. These are the hounds of hell in full cry, speaking through the lips of very twisted and wounded people. They attack an innocent little baby boy in their pain, but fail to find relief for their guilt. They need to seek forgiveness and peace in Christ.
Lets pray for their salvation, and that teh beauty of Sarah continues to bring out the ugliness of the left to reveal to the moderates exactly who they are in bed with when they vote for Obama and pro-abortion Congresssmen.
Abortion is no distraction, it's THE central issue of our time, the way slavery was in the Civil War.

Fr Loya takes up for Sarah Palin

Fr Loya discusses Sarah Palin's resignation in terms of Theology of the Body on his show, "A Body of Truth" on Catholic Radio International. He says, "her enemies need to duck" as he applauds her loyalty to her role as wife and mother and says she is now more powerful than ever. Fr Loya is not the only one who admires the spirited Sarah;
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the head of the pro-life women's group Susan B. Anthony List, had nothing but kind words for Palin.
“Sarah Palin has always been an intensely independent woman-- always true to her faith, her family and call to public service. She has provided women with a new political role model, offering a positive example of grace and poise as she deflected the barrage of baseless personal attacks on her family,” she told LifeNews.com.

Sarah evoked visceral reactions from those who have insisted that in order to be successful in politics a woman has to be like a man. Sarah is beautiful, happy and in love with her family and her God. I wish her the best in all her endeavors as she brings a breath of bracing fresh air to the Culture of Death.

Mark Levin: Run Sarah Run!

Go Sarah Go! Palin leaves governorship

My gut tells me that she is making a move to become more widely known in the lower 48 states, because the Dems and leftie media will do their best to make a scandal-ridden charicature of her in Alaska. Her administration has successfully shaken 15 scandals already. If she stays in Alaska, she will have an even more intense fight on her hands, as Obama feels her on his heels as his poll numbers continue to slide down the the sinking economy.
Americans love Sarah Palin when they get to know her, and feel in my bones that she is beginning to run for president. Sarah, do you need a Connecticut campaign manager? Here I am!

Sarah accepts Letterman's apology

this came as an email to Team Sarah members.
Last night David Letterman again addressed the distasteful “jokes” he made at the expense of Governor Sarah Palin and her teenage daughter on June 8. Governor Palin issued a statement accepting last night’s apology:
"Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve. Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction. And this is all thanks to our U.S. military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America's right to free speech - in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect."
The controversy over Letterman’s “jokes” has already cost CBS at least one advertiser: Embassy Suites. Company spokeswoman Kendra Walker told
TVGuide.com, “We received lots of e-mails from concerned guests and we assessed that the statement that he made was offensive enough to our guests and prospective guests that we elected to take the ads down."
Governor Palin has very graciously accepted Letterman’s apology, and her hope that men who make jokes of this nature will “evolve” certainly resonates with the public. It is OUR hope that David Letterman has seen first hand how the laughter ends when comedy routines become nothing more than thinly-disguised ideological grandstanding designed around the humiliation of others for cheap laughs.
THANK YOU to all of the Team Sarah members who have contacted CBS and their sponsors to express their views on this latest controversy. We are truly touched by all of the supportive comments and emails we have received.

Thanks to Embassy Suites for being responsive to the complaints of mothers who felt their daughters were being insulted with 14 year old Willow. I was one of them. Every time the public discourse gets lowered another notch ALL our daughters are put at greater risk.

Malkin responds to Letterman

"Will you teach your son to talk about women and girls the way you talk about Sarah Palin and her daughters?
You called the married 45-year-old mother, grandmother and Alaska governor a "slutty flight attendant" on your national TV talk show because she happens to be a tall, beautiful and dynamic public figure who doesn't look, walk or talk the way you think she should."

This is the essential point, because Chelsea Clinton's mom is PC, she has never been attacked by late night comics. She is off limits. But if the liberals can manage to damage Sarah Palin enough by 2012 to make her unelectable they are sparing Barack Obama any real competition in that election.
AND there's more, a female radio talk show host in Rhode Island today sneered at Palin's charges that such trash talk about underage girls makes them more vulnerable to abuse. I have news for you, Sarah's right. When the level of public discourse is so gutter language low, everyone in society is brought down. I have seen how degraded school age girls are in ads, MTV, the internet and sitcoms. It's time to stop objectifying women, Mr Letterman, even conservative women, and try some big boy jokes. There is a name for your obsession with degrading women, MISOGYNIST.

Sarah Palin is mad, but undeterred

Planned Parenthood has set up a special fund so that donations may be given in her name, in order to mock her pro-abortion views."I have boxes of thank-you notes from people associated with Planned Parenthood thanking me for the donations," she said during a press conference. "It's political theater -- it's great theater, I guess, for some."
Palin said that she and Planned Parenthood may "agree on a mission here that we'd like to see fewer and fewer abortions, I, embracing the culture of life, have perhaps a different approach in how I would like to see that goal reached."
The donations are "not going to change my views or the views of many other Alaskans who believe every life is precious," Palin added.

Pro-lifers were quick to launch a counter-offensive.
Blogger Rod Drehar, of BeliefNet, highlighted the email and suggested that pro-life advocates launch a counter campaign to support pregnancy centers in Palin’s name.
“You may wish to donate to your local pro-life crisis pregnancy center to offset any contribution to the abortionists. If you don't know how to find one, you can always give to CareNet, a national organization that runs a network of crisis pregnancy centers,” he says.
Drehar calls the email “tactically brilliant” but “of course wicked.”
“I suggest any readers who donate to a pro-life cause to counter that do so in Trig Palin's name, and send notification to” the Republican Party or McCain’s campaign.

Sarah Palin; a grandmother at 44

I am not shocked. When I was in the Maternity Ward with my second child at 35, my roommate's mother was 30. She was becoming a grandmother. My own mother-in-law was the mother of my husband at 16 in El Salvador. It happens, and life is a gift whenever or however it comes. Just ask Sarah Palin.
Palin says she welcomes her first grandchild, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born to Bristol and her fiance' Levi Johnston on December 27.
“We are over the moon with the arrival of this healthy, beautiful baby,” Governor Palin said. “The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy."
"Bristol and Levi are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child. They are both hard workers, they're very strong, and have faith they've made the right decision in setting aside their own interests to make this child their highest priority," the governor said in a statement LifeNews.com obtained.

When Tripp was born, reactions fromt the press were predictably mixed. But the Palins were predictably pro-life, unlike Barack Obama who said he didn't want his daughters "punished with a baby". Babies are blessings, normal or special needs, affordable or expensive, convenient or embarassing. Our Lady risked her life to say "yes" to bearing the Saviour of the World, as St Joseph had the option of having her stoned as an adultress if he didn't believe the child was the Son of God. We have to follow her perfect example.
In my experience, the more a child demands of her parents, the more they grow up, and learn to give. The Palins are growing more generous every day. I would love it if they grew to be the First Family some day.

Wendy Wright, the president of Concerned Women for America, told LifeNews.com that Sarah Palin's response to her daughter’s pregnancy reminds her of the pro-life response she had to the news that her fifth child had Down syndrome.
“The surprise announcement that Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant provided another opportunity for the vice-presidential candidate to make a politically convenient choice or the right one,” Wright told LifeNews.com.
“The family could have treated the innocent baby as a '
punishment' and secretly snuffed out the child's life to avoid a high-profile embarrassment,” Wright said, referring to comments Barack Obama made about his own daughters.
Judie Brown of American Life League said,"Human life is always something to celebrate as a gift of infinite beauty and value," said ALL president Judie Brown. "Even under trying circumstances, a child has come into the world made in the image and likeness of God. The Palin family is to be congratulated on their first grandchild."

Dr James Dobson interviews Sarah Palin

Focus on the Family director Dr James Dobson interviews Sarah Palin on his radio show. By the way, if you include international audience, his show is by far the most popular in the world.
I love what he has to say about special needs children, and how Sarah's love for Trig is such an inspiration. Click here for a link to the broadcast.
Dr Dobson urges us all to be in prayer for this election.

SNL Sarah

Tonight Sarah Palin performed in the opening skit for Saturday Night Live. I haven't watched the show since college, but I wanted to see how she'd do instead of taking the word of the media tomorrow, so we tuned in as a family (I figured that Sarah's segment wouldn't be risque).
Alec Baldwin was with her playing an actor who is complaining about a conservative apppearing on SNL, who supposedly didn't realize it was really Sarah. She suprised him by saying she WAS Sarah Palin, and shaking his hand with a smile. Then she let him have it. She said, "Stephen was always my favorite Baldwin brother".
This was a perfect characterization of Sarah, charming and tough by turns.
I laughed harder because it reminded me of an incident last Labor Day Weekend, when my family was camping in Cedar Point, near East Hampton. We attended Mass on Sunday at Alec Baldwin's parish, Holy Rosary, discovering this when he arrived late, in shorts, attracting a lot of attention. He waved to his fans, and the Mass resumed. Afterwards, Alec stood with the two priests in the reception line, shaking hands. I waited for the priests to put him in this place, and realized with some dismay, that this was East Hampton, where celebrities rule.
I was irritated by his performance, and the crowd of older women surrounding him, (he is a notorious liberal and an abusive critic of some of my favorite Fox news commentators, this predisposed me to be annoyed) so I refused to joining the adoring throng. Besides, younger women were doing the same thing, passing him by. While we were crossing the street to the parking lot, I shot over my shoulder to my daughter but hoping to dig him, "his brother's a better actor anyway!"
Later, walking on the beach, I recriminated myself thinking, 'he must be awfully lonely coming to Mass to find some attention. He has alienated his ex-wife, his daughter, and half of the American public, maybe I could have shown some charity and invited him to a cook out at our campsite'.
Too late. I had found the opportunity to get in a good line irresistable.
So did Sarah!

Is Barack Obama qualified to be president? Vote now

You see how the internet is an equalizer. Expect it to be targeted if Obama wins. It will be payback time for those of us who weren't on board. The American Family Association is one of the most powerful grassroots organizations in America. They got 880,000 people to email the FCC about Janet Jackson's disgrace at the Superbowl. They got Ford and McDonald's to stop funding the gay agenda. And now they're taking on PBS. GO AFA!
PBS, the most liberal network in America (funded, incidentally, by your tax dollars) is running a poll concerning Sarah Palin. Their question is:
Do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States?
Since PBS and the liberal media will widely publicize the results, AFA has decided to run a poll concerning the qualifications of Barack Obama.
The question: Do you think Barack Obama is qualified to serve as President of the United States?
Take the Poll!
PBS refuses to show the number of individuals voting in their poll. It could be that only a small handful voted. AFA will show the number voting.
Please send this to your family and friends.
For regular updates on this poll, check the top center column at
www.afa.net.

Unleash the lipstick-wearin' Pit Bull!

Fred Barnes, one of my favorite political commentators, tells how the McCain campaign was holding Sarah Palin back out of the limelight, and cutting her wings in terms of how she was to talk in interviews on TV. No wonder she looked stressed!
On the debate, she was set free to be herself, and she was great!
One more point. It's a waste of time and talent to have Palin stump jointly with McCain. Palin needs to campaign alone. She can handle it. Her crowds will probably be bigger than McCain's, but he's not likely to let his ego interfere with a strategy that improves his chances of winning the White House.
McCain should feel vindicated. His choice of Palin as his running mate has turned out extraordinarily well. There's never been a national candidate like her, a mother of five from the boondocks who grins as she skewers her opponents. More important, she's given a significant gift to McCain. She's improved his chances of winning.
