Get your Mother Teresa Stamps on September 7th

When I met Thomas Peters of American Papist, at the Catholic New Media Celebration in Boston, I was thrilled that he remembered me from 2009 when we both received the Pro-life Blog Award from the American Life League. I am such a small fish and he is well, a celebrity. It shows his gracious humility.

But there's another reason to love Thomas Peters, his passion for the Faith. He gave a talk about the power of the New Media to influence the culture, and launch grassroots activism,  and used the campaign to support the Mother Teresa stamp as an example of how we Catholics, can use our voices in the new media and can affect the climate in America.
Brian Burch has teamed up with Thomas at Catholic Vote Action, and reminds us to claim our victory of obtaining the Mother Teresa stamp by buying as many of them as possible and making them a historic bestseller.

“This is incredible.”

Those are the words of a Director with the United States Postal Service after being told that over 146,000 people signed our petition in support of the Mother Teresa stamp.

This is truly inspiring.
I am happy to report that I will be on hand to represent you and CatholicVote at the formal introduction of the Mother Teresa stamp on Sunday. The Postal Service will unveil the stamp at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., exactly 13 years after Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997.

Your efforts have proved the power of CatholicVote’s grassroots activism! We refused to stay silent while a small, but very vocal minority tried to stop the celebration of this amazing and holy nun.
As we said at the time our petition was launched, “Not this time. Not with Mother Teresa.”

Let’s show the Postal Service how much enthusiasm there is for Mother Teresa. The stamp goes on sale nationwide on Tuesday, September 7. Don’t forget to visit your local post office next week and buy lots of Mother Teresa stamps!
Thank you again for all your efforts in making this effort such a big success.

Mother Teresa to be honored everywhere but at the Empire State Building

You can tell a lot about a person or organization by watching how they resond to the the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa's birth. First, the US Postal Service is issuing this stamp honoring the greatest humanitarian of the 20th Century.Good for them, let's make sure these stamps sell out in record time!
Catholics for a Free Choice, and the rest of  the so-called Catholic pro-abortion groups however don't want to honor Mother. Its because her love of her fellow man extended to the unborn, the poorest of the poor, with few laws to protect them from death.
Read the Life Site News story here.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on what is taking place on August 26:
In honor of the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa's birthday, there will be celebrations the world over. From St. Peter's Cathedral in Belfast, Ireland to the Hutchinson Metro Center in the Bronx, blue and white (the colors of the Missionaries of Charity) will shine brightly. Billboards in Times Square will shine blue and nearby Hoboken will feature posters of Mother Teresa in several venues. Miami's entire skyline will be cast in blue and white, featuring the iconic Miami Tower. Brooklyn's Borough Hall will be aglow in blue and white, as will the USS Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
The Peace Bridge between Buffalo and Fort Erie, Ontario will light up, as will Buffalo's Electric Tower. Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas is on board as well. Moreover, we are hearing daily about events throughout Europe, including memorial initiatives from Switzerland to Bulgaria. Albania, Mother Teresa's birthplace, is pulling out all the stops.
Moreover, Catholic churches all over the nation are celebrating Mass in honor of Mother Teresa, and many are sporting blue and white ribbons. Furthermore, Resolutions honoring her have been passed by city councils, state legislatures and Catholic organizations.

In lone contrast to these tributes is Anthony Malkin, owner of the Empire State Building: he has decided not to light the towers blue and white for Mother Teresa. As a result, there will be a rally outside his trophy edifice on Thursday, starting at 6:00 p.m. It promises to be quite an event.

MOTHER TERESA TRIBUTE DENIED

Anthony Malkin, owner of the Empire State Building, released a statement today saying, "As a privately owned building, ESB has a specific policy against any other lighting for religious figures or requests by religions and religious organizations."

Commenting is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

Malkin is either misinformed or he is lying. Here's the proof: When John Cardinal O'Connor died in 2000, the Empire State Building was lighted in red and white; in 2005, when Pope John Paul II died, the tower lights were extinguished in his honor; also in 2005, the tower was aglow in yellow, red and blue in tribute to the 125th anniversary of the Salvation Army; and every year the colors red, black and green are lit in memory of Rev. Martin Luther King. In other words, there is no policy barring religious figures or organizations from being honored.

When I applied to the Empire State Building on February 2, I received a phone call from Nicole Grzywacz, Public Relations and Events Coordinator, saying the application had been received. She never indicated there was any policy which would prohibit my request. Indeed, when I spoke to her assistant, Stacy Ann, she never implied that there was a problem.

Malkin has made his decision to stiff Catholics. I have made mine: We will call off our petition drive, but we will go forward with our demonstration outside the Empire State Building on August 26. His decision to double down at this juncture—in the face of massive support for our request—is something he will regret for the rest of his life.

A World Gone Mad; Be Thou My Vision

When the most pro-death politician in the history of the world, Barack Obama, is given the same Nobel Peace Prize as the most pro-life woman the world has ever seen, Blessed Mother Teresa, we know the world has lost it's moral compass.
We have no other recourse but to turn to our Lord in prayer.
Listen to "Be Thou My Vision" in Irish to regain your peace while you pray.
Update:
Jill Stanek has lifted my spirits with her inspiring post about last year's truly worthy Noble Prize candidate, who lost to AL Gore(what has he accomplished besides getting rich off carbon credits?).
Irena Sendler, a Polish Catholic social worker, saved 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto from the Nazis (twice as many as Oskar Shindler of "Shindler's List").
Her legacy was nearly forgotten when four Kansas schoolgirls wrote a play about her incredible feat. She passed on this year, and is receiving the greatest prize; eternal life.
