Obama's plan to make Americans dependent on government
The Vortex is right, and people from Rush Limbagh to Rick Santorum are saying it; the Obama Administration wants total control over us by helping us surrender to our baser nature.
Sin enslaves, and then when society is in ruins (not far away) then we need government to clean up the mess. There goes our freedom.

Pharmacists and patients forced to participate in vaccines
My friend, a pharmacist, describes how difficult it is to live her faith in her profession, and how she fears that her profession has been destroyed. In my local pharmacy, patients are known by name and the pharmacist really seems to care about them. I wonder if all that will change once mandatory vacccination orders are handed down from the White House. As Rahm Emmanuel has said, "never let a good crisis go to waste". Is the H1N1 'pandemic' the second crisis after the economic collapse, that the Obama Administration will exploit to remove parental rights and conscience clauses for professionals and parents, and one's rights over one's own body?
"I enjoyed pharmacy in the first years. I knew my customers well. I felt a servant and one who was truly involved with health care. Over the years, that sense began to deteriorate. For one thing, the small pharmacies could not compete with chains and then grocery stores where pharmacy was on a par with floral or something. It became more of a commodity and an assembly line. Not to say that we still could not get to know and care about our regular patients, we did. And although there are wonderful life-saving medications and those that improve the quality of life and allow one to live many years with diabetes and other diseases, those drugs are not the bulk of what is dispensed, in my experience.
What is dispensed are psychotropic drugs--mega pain pills, mega anti-depressants, anti-psyhcotics, sleep aids, and tranquilizers.
My personal thought is how can one hear the whispers of the Holy Spirit while drugged up? And drug seeking behavior can be seen from people in any walk of life. Legal drug abuse is phenomenal! It is hard to believe how many drugs some people take. Then when I realized that birth control pills had abortifacient properties, I knew I could not be a retail pharmacist that dispenses those. I left my position in Jan. 1998 and wasunemployed for about 6 months. Then I was offered a position with a home health/IV pharmacy and that was great. I did that for 7 years. Then the franchise closed. A pharmacist who I had worked for in the past offered me a part time position in a grocery store pharmacy and I was allowed a conscience clause and I did that until I moved away last year. I have not found a position here where I can work in accord with my conscience. There is a nursing home pharmacy but even there I have a prejudice that many folks are in nursing homes because they take too many drugs! Do I want to be a part of that, even if legal? So you see I have many issues with my profession. And now the coming mandating of giving vaccines and shots and following that may be the dispensing of drugs for euthanasia. I cannot do that either.
My beautiful profession! Look what has happened to it."

Bill Donohue on the Pulling of RB1098
CONNECTICUT ANTI-CATHOLIC BILL PULLED
The bill that would allow the state legislature in Connecticut to reconfigure the governing structure of the Catholic Church has been pulled. Introduced by Rep. Michael Lawlor and Sen. Andrew McDonald, the bill was withdrawn at the behest of the person who proposed it, Tom Gallagher; he is a contributor to the National Catholic Reporter, a left-wing Catholic newspaper. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will now review the constitutionality of the bill.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded as follows:
“Every pre-law undergraduate knows that what Lawlor and McDonald tried to pull off—in stealth fashion—was flagrantly unconstitutional. For their fascist stunt, they should at least be censured by their colleagues. Ideally, they should resign or be forced out of office.
“The big losers are the Catholic left-wing activists who pushed for this measure. To be specific, Voice of the Faithful, a dissident Catholic group comprised mainly of senior citizens, has been promoting a lay Catholic takeover of the Catholic Church for many years. Also, their ideological kinfolk at the National Catholic Reporter republished an article by Gallagher calling for an aggressive civil law approach to parish governance.
“Lawlor, McDonald, Gallagher, Voice of the Faithful, and the National Catholic Reporter totally underestimated the reaction of rank-and-file Catholics. Chalk up a big victory for Catholics who are loyal to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and to the religious liberty provisions of the First Amendment.”

This does not bode well for Catholic leadership
Somehow I missed the voting results of the USCCB Convention. All right, maybe it was deliberate, these things end up frustrating me, and tempting me to the sin of detraction.
All the outspoken bishops who have the guts to reprimand so-called Catholic politicians who vote to exterminate babies, get silenced by losing the leadership positions to quieter bishops.
Now King Obama can ascend to the throne in peace, knowing that those in charge of the USCCB are the nice guys who won't bother him. And probably voted for him.

PZ Meyers on the rampage again
This time he's attacking prolife pharmacist MikeKoelzer, owner of Kay Pharmacy in Grand Rapids, Michigan, stopped selling contraceptive products in 2002. He's been featured in The Washington Post and on ABC World News for his views on abortion-causing drugs. Myers' latest screed of religious intolerance on his blog Pharyngula incited an all-out internet attack against Koelzer. Threats and hate mail inundated Koelzer's e-mail after he inadvertently sent Myers a speaking invitation.

Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity under attack in India
Militant Muslims aren't the only threat to peace. Violent Hindus have been torturing and murdering Catholic clergy, and plan to commit more violence against them, accusing the Missionaries of Charity of kidnapping and converting infants.
Mother Teresa's orphanages are famous for taking unwanted children, unusually girls from families where they face almost certain death, thanks to the banned but common dowry customs. It takes 15 years for an Indian family to save up the $15,000 marriage dowry for a girl, so subsequent girls are normally aborted or killed at birth. Mother Teresa began orphanages to halt this practice decades ago, but her merciful work is now under threat from militant Hindus, who seem to have the Indian police on their side.
Blessed Mother Teresa, pray for us!

Add another anti-Catholic bigot to Bill's list
DONOHUE TO DOBBS:APOLOGIZE OR DEBATE ME
Yesterday, after first addressing the Catholic Church's failure to act responsibly in handling the sex abuse scandal, Pope Benedict XVI addressed the social context in which the scandal took place, asking, "What does it mean to speak of child protection when pornography and violence can be viewed in so many homes through media widely available today?" He's right, we have an indecent, fiflthy culture, with very few taboos left, and they keep changing, so it's hard to remember what sins society disapproves of. Homosexuality with a 16 year old is fine, but at 15 years, 364 days, you get put away. What hypocrisy!
On his CNN show last night, Lou Dobbs made the following comments about the pope:
"I don't want to put you [addressing a guest] in jeopardy of either perdition or Hell itself. But, so I will gamble this, may I? The idea that the pope would come here and criticize the United States this way is, I think, first of all bad manners. I don't care if you're infallible [sarcastically] or not. So it's bad manners. Number two, it is absolutely out of all proportion with the world scale. This is the most welcoming nation, the most generous nation on the face of the earth. And for this pope to have this attitude and to make these comments is, in my opinion, absolutely repugnant". I'm on my way to Hell". It seems to me that if one is going to reach to the level that he did, you have to have some moral standing for it. And what has been happening to this church for the last decade, seems to leave open his standing, cleaning up his own house. I don't know if there is a scriptural reference there, but it seems to me that, glass houses, stones. Whatever it may be, it's just bad manners."
Responding is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:
"What the transcript doesn't reveal is the tone of Dobbs' remarks. He was sarcastic and insulting throughout. Dobbs can either apologize for his offensive remarks, or he can invite me on his show to debate him. Enough is enough"this guy has crossed the line big time."
Sick of Bill Maher's picking on the Holy Father?
Sign the American Life League petition to have him fired. Last night on the O'Reilly factor it was said that "the Catholic Church is always fair game, because there are no consequences for picking on it". Let's make certain that this is no longer true, that our beloved Holy Mother Church is at least as respected as a college basketball team.
UPDATE from ALL's Michael Hichborn:
GREAT JOB, EVERYONE!!!
The response is SO huge right now that the internet traffic to our petition site is actually overloaded the media temple.
We are working hard at fixing it, but please ...
KEEP IT COMING!!!

Urgent call to New Yorkers to go to Albany Tuesday March 11
Please consider this prayerfully if you live in New York State. Governor Spitzer's RHAPP bill is the most dangerous piece of legislation to come out regarding abortion in recent years, as it has the ability to Roe-proof New York State. In other words, if Roe v Wade is reversed, New York will still have access to abortion, and may even force Catholic hospitals to perform them. If this bill is successful here, it will spread to other states, and reversing Roe v Wade our goal for 35 years, will be rendered pointless. All concerned pro-lifers must stand up to this bullying by Governor Spitzer before he starts a national trend.
Schedule in Albany
10:30am General Assembly, Lewis A. Swyer Theatre, The Egg
11:30-12:30PM Mass in the Convention Center, Edwin Cardinal Egan, main celebrant
Lunch, immediately following
1:00PM Lobbying in the Capitol and Legislative Office Buildings
Return late Afternoon

Pete Vere leads the charge against "The Golden Compass"
Pete Vere is a contributor to several publications including "The Wanderer" and "National Catholic Register". He has co-written book with Sandra Meisel on Phillip Pullman entitled, The Pied Piper of Atheism. He has also written several good articles, including, Pullman and the Seduction of Children. He says,
Meet Philip Pullman, the man whom English author Peter Hitchens refers to as “the most dangerous author in Britain.” He writes children’s literature that mocks God and ridicules church. “He is the anti-Lewis,” Hitchens states, referencing C.S. Lewis’s classic Chronicles of Narnia series. He adds that Pullman is “the one the atheists would have been praying for, if atheists prayed.” Yet, unlike most atheists who attack God through stuffy academic treatises that will never be read by the general public, Pullman uses children’s literature to foment rebellion against God.

Chinese may ban Catholics from 2008 Olympics
I am tired of every administration, including this one, caving in to pressure from businesses who have outsourced their plants to China, and ignore it's blatant violation of human rights. To his credit, President Bush has eliminated grants to the UN Population Fund, because of it's support of forced abortions in China, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Why are we going to participate in the Olympics in China with all the dissidents, especially Catholics who are incarcerated? Fr. Tom Euteneuer is in China and has a report on the human rights violations he is observing there. We boycotted Olympics before, when Moscow was doing the same nonsense, so let's do it now!

My Letter to the Editor of the Long Island Catholic June 14,2006
I get uneasy when I see my fellow Catholics, themselves the grandchildren of immigrants, speaking so disparagingly about “illegal aliens.” Let’s just remember, that, for most of U.S. history Catholics, regardless of how they arrived in this nation, were considered suspicious because of their primary allegiance to Rome and the wretched legacy of religious wars in Europe. The Know-Nothing political party, which had a majority in Congress in 1860s, had anti-Catholicism as its platform. This anti-Catholic bigotry lasted until the JFK presidential campaign and may still be seen today.
We Catholics are to give a better example to our nation. Hispanic immigrants are our sisters and brothers in Christ, not hostile invaders bent upon our destruction. By the year 2030, they will comprise 50 percent of our Church. If that frightens you, then you know how my Irish ancestors felt to see the great numbers of my Italian and Polish ancestors arriving in New York. Regulation of immigration, including learning English, yes, but prohibition and deportation, no.
Who else will pay into our Social Security System, since we no longer want to have large families? Whose hard labor will build our towns? Whose enthusiasm at becoming citizens will remind us of our blessings? Who will remind us our our often neglected devotion to the Blessed Mother, by their fervent piety and colorful feast days?
As a bilingual catechist, I brought four Hispanic teens to the March for Life and watched their enthusiasm for the cause of the rights of the unborn take hold. I feel optimistic, that with our expression of Catholic solidarity, they can be, as all immigrants have been, an invaluable asset to the spiritual life of the Catholic Church in the United States.

More Thoughts on the Supreme Court
My favorite political/Catholic blog, "The Cafeteria is Closed" has some of today's goings on in the Supreme Court as they considered the ban on Partial Birth Abortion(click on church icon above). It seems they are trotting out the same old canard about the woman's health, when the AMA had said that this procedure is NEVER medically necessary.
I raised this issue with my newly re-elected Congressman Tim Bishop in a meeting two years ago in Westhampton, only to have him deny the truth to my face.
One of his wealthy constituents yelled at me, "Shut up and sit down!"
Emboldened by the Spirit, I held up my little Christina, and challenged, "90% of these babies are killed by abortion, many by the very procedure we are discussing, do you think she should have been killed?"
He grumbled, "you Catholics want these babies to be born, are ya gonna support them then?" (I had never identified myself as a Catholic, but I'm glad it showed!)
I replied, "Well, my husband and I support many of his family members in El Salvador, so I think I'm doing my part".
The disgruntled old man was momentarily non-plussed, so I got in my parting shot,"I know you're worried about the future of Social Security, but if 1/3 of our US population for the past 33 years had not been murdered by abortion, think of all those young workers who could've been paying into the system!"
