"Catholic" Congressmen; mind your own business!

To all the CINO Catholic in Name Only Congressmen who send this letter to Pope Benedict telling him how to do his God-given job, mind your own business.
Here's the letter:
January 29, 2009
His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI Apostolic Palace 00120, Vatican City State, Europe
Your Holiness Pope Benedict XVI,
As Catholic Members of Congress, we are writing to express our deep concerns with your decision to reinstate Bishop Richard Williamson to communion with the Catholic Church at the same time that Bishop Williamson publicly denies that the Holocaust occurred or that such was the policy under Adolf Hitler. We do not question your reasons for revoking the excommunication of Bishop Williamson or your right to do so, but we fail to understand why the revocation was not accompanied by an emphatic public rejection of his denial of the Holocaust. As such, we seek clarification on this important matter.
Bishop Williamson has said as recently as this past November that, “historical evidence is hugely against 6 million Jews having been deliberately gassed in gas chambers as a deliberate policy by Adolf Hitler.” Yet, the Holocaust is a verifiable fact and as people of good will would agree, one of the darkest chapters in our history as a human family. There are still thousands of people amongst us – Jews and non-Jews – who can attest through eye-witness accounts to the horrors of the Holocaust. Bishop Williamson’s comments regarding the Holocaust echo those of neo-Nazis, Islamist extremists, racists and others who choose hatred and violence over peaceful co-existence among peoples of all races and ethnicities.
We understand that Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi has said that this issue is unrelated to the reinstatement of Bishop Williamson and that you do not share in his views. And we welcome your recent statement expressing "full and indisputable solidarity" with the Jewish people. But this is too sensitive an issue to be handled without a direct repudiation of Bishop Williamson’s views. As a spiritual leader and the head of the Catholic Church, we believe it is vital that you publicly state your unequivocal position on this matter so that it is clear where the Church stands on one of the most consequential events of the 20th century. To neglect to do so is to allow others to portray it as they wish and impede the progress made over so many years toward harmony and reconciliation.
Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully,
ROSA L. DeLAURO, WILLIAM DELAHUNT, ANNA ESHOO, JAMES L. OBERSTAR , BART STUPAK, BILL PASCRELL, CHRISTOPHER P. CARNEY, GERALD E. CONNOLLY, MAURICE D. Catholic Congressmen: your business is to
1. Keep contraceptives OUT of the bailout package. How many of you voted with the Republicans to do this?
2. Support Rep Chris Smith's efforts to keep the Mexico City Policy so our precious tax dollars won't go to horrendous abortion programs overseas (like the coercive abortions in China's one-child policy) Here is a list of the other Catholic Democrats who voted not to restore the Mexico City Policy: Gillibrand (NY); Reed (RI); Leahy (VT); Cantwell (WA); Menendez (NJ); Murray (WV); Begich (AL); Dodd (CT); Landrieu (LA); Harkin (IA); Kerry (MA); McCaskill (MO); Mikulski (MD); Durbin (IL) and Kaufman (DE).
Here is a list of the total contributions from the abotion lobby made to the senators who voted against the bill to restore the Mexico City Policy.
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who assumed office only in January 2007, has accepted $986,619 from the pro-abortion lobby. (Source: Inside Catholic.com)
Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) has received $205,768
“Pro-life" Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-PA), $327,914.
Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), $1,043,301
Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), $17,400
Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), $303,014
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), $44,585
Sen. Christopher Dodd (CT), $31,235
Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), $326,996
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), $191,057
Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), $367,491
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), $77,216
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), $24,435
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), $244,36

3. De-fund the world's biggest abortion profiteer, Planned Parenthood. I didn't hear Obama complaining about the millions in profit which this mega business brings in. With 30% of it's revenue coming from the taxpayers. And thousand of lives ended and women wounded.
4. Pass a Constitutional Amendment stating that unborn babies are persons deserving civil rights. You did it for blacks and women, now let's finish this injustice in America. This will automatically make abortion the civil rights violation that it is.
5. Pass a Constitutional Amendment stating that marriage is between one man and one woman. Another no-brainer,you should remember from your catechism.
6.Ban pornography from the internet where it destroys families.
7. Enforce FCC decency standards on TV and Radio.
8. Let children have vouchers to escape failing public schools and attend the private schools of their parent's choice, like the Obama children do.
9. Stop no-fault divorce from ruining marriages in this nation
10. Or to sum up, just start voting as if you were Catholics in a state of grace instead of in mortal sin which endangers your immortal salvation. You are dancing on a tightrope over the yawning pit of Hell the way you vote, and talk, and live. You cause scandal when you receive the Most Holy Eucharist unworthily, yes Senator Biden, Rep Nancy Pelosi, and Tim Bishop. You confuse the faithful and eat and drink your own damnation.(paraphrase of St Paul) You are in no position to preach at the Holy Father. You are only lucky he is a loving and gentle Holy Father and doesn't give you the public dressing down that you are so richly deserve! He's trusting his bishops in the US to do that. Ahem. . .

Now, when you have accomplished these vital tasks, putting the Culture of Death at bay, you may have the right to tell the Holy Father how to handle irascible old Bishop Williamson. I'm sure that Pope Benedict has dealt with Holocaust deniers before. After all, he is German.
After all, he met with all of you last April, the Catholic legislators who are in denial about the Holocaust under their own noses, the over one million and a half babies murdered in the womb in America each year.
Maybe the Holy Father can sit you down, with Bishop Williamson and watch two films. "Holocaust" and "Dura Realidad" (The Hard Truth). As Lila Rose of Live Action Films says, each time civil rights have been violated, it took graphic images of torture and death to wake up the public.
Catholic Congressmen and Bishop Williamson both need to wake up to injustices.

Sean Hannity blew his chance

I was hoping that when he had a segment on his show Hannity's America tonight, about Superbowl commercials that he would mention the one that NBC banned, that at www.CatholicVote.org but instead he showed the overtly sexual PETA commercial, giving them free airtime.
I thought you were pro-life Sean! You had a great opportunity to be boldly pro-life, but only EWTN has the guts to show this video. Banned from NBC and YouTube.
BREAKING NEWS:

EWTN Picks Up the Ball NBC Dropped in Refusing to

Air Pro-life Commercial During Super Bowl

Irondale, AL (EWTN) – See the pro-life commercial NBC refused to air during the Super Bowl on EWTN Global Catholic Network this Sunday Feb. 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET and continuing through midnight ET.

The commercial, sponsored by Fidelis and catholicvote.com, centers around the theme: “Life: Imagine the Potential.” It will begin airing during “Faith Bowl II,” an annual Family Theatre made-for-television special, which analyzes the role that the Catholic/Christian Faith plays in professional and collegiate sports. This year, Major League Baseball’s Mark Loretta of the Los Angeles Dodgers will guest along with former professional soccer player Antonio Soave.

The commercials will continue throughout EWTN’s Sunday evening lineup, including the shows with popular series Hosts Father Benedict Groeschel and Father John Corapi, and will conclude at midnight ET.

EWTN also aired this powerful commercial several times during its extensive coverage of the March for Life; an event which has been boycotted by virtually every mainstream media outlet in the country, despite the fact that every year it is Washington, D.C.’s largest march.

The commercial can also be viewed on EWTN’s pro-life webpage, www.ewtn.com/prolife, after 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, and, of course, on www.catholicvote.com.

What follows are the words that flash across the screen over a picture of an ultrasound during the must-see pro-life commercial: “This child’s future is a broken home, he will be abandoned by his father, his single mother will struggle to raise him, despite the hardships he will endure, this child will become the 1st African-American president. Life, imagine the potential.”

EWTN Global Catholic Network, in its 28th year, is available in over 148 million television households in more than 140 countries and territories. With its direct broadcast satellite television and radio services, AM & FM radio networks, worldwide short-wave radio station, Internet website www.ewtn.com and publishing arm, EWTN, is the largest religious media network in the world.

NBC rejects prolife Superbowl ad

Brian Burch, president of the pro-life group, told LifeNews.com he is upset that NBC officials rejected what he calls a uplifting and positive pro-life ad.
“There is nothing objectionable in this positive, life-affirming advertisement. We show a beautiful ultrasound, something NBC’s parent company GE has done for years," Burch said.
"We congratulate Barack Obama on becoming the first African-American President. And we simply ask people to imagine the potential of every human life," he told LifeNews.com.

I guess it's too controversial. You decide.

More Looking into the pork in the stimulus package

From the Family Research Council
This much is clear after last night's vote. House Democrats will live or die by the stimulus.
President Obama's hopes for a spirit of bipartisanship sank the moment Republican leaders got their hands on the bill's fine print.
The American people seem to be catching the new wave of skepticism about the liberals' plan. According to the latest Rasmussen poll, only forty-two percent of the nation's likely voters now support the President's plan. Perhaps they, like the GOP, are paying more attention to the fallout for the nation's families.
Human Events says the $1.1 trillion pork-and-payoff bill will cost every American household $10,000--with just 5% dedicated to infrastructure. As families carefully spend their dollars, the presses are running around the clock to print more money for government agencies who abuse what they already have. We're also learning of some disturbing connections between House liberals and the beneficiaries of the stimulus.
Newspapers revealed that the bill's architect, Rep. David Obey (D-Wis.), had a vested interest in the massive $2 billion earmark for national parks (triple what the Senate Appropriations Committee approved). His son, Craig Obey, happens to be the chief lobbyist for the National Park Service. House Democrats also want to reward the National Science Foundation with a lavish $1.4 billion check at the same time its employees are under investigation for viewing and emailing porn on the taxpayers' dime ("for significant portions of their workdays, and over period of months or even years," according to Politico). Most Americans would agree that this isn't the kind of stimulus Congress should be funding.
FRC also learned that your money will help ingratiate Obama to his new Hollywood friends by providing a $246 million tax break for film investors. We commend the Democrats who stood against the party pressure and voted with conservatives and the GOP to protect the taxpayers. They include: Reps. Bobby Bright (Ala.), Parker Griffith (Ala.), Allen Boyd (Fla.), Walt Minnick (Idaho), Brad Ellsworth (Ind.), Frank Kratovil (Md.), Collin Peterson (Minn.), Gene Taylor (Miss.), Heath Shuler (N.C.), Paul Kanjorski (Pa.), and Jim Cooper (Tenn.). Please call them and express your gratitude!

Dems in bed with sympathetic media

from Brent Bozell at the Media Research Center:
I've just received shocking news that demands immediateaction by every member of our MRC Action team.
Tuesday, Politico broke the news that ABCNews' George Stephanopoulosis currently conducting private, daily phone briefings with Obamachief of staff Rahm Emanuel. CNN's Paul Begala, James Carville and pollster Stan Greenberg are also involved.

Imagine the liberal media's reaction if Brit Hume or Rush Limbaugh had been conducting daily strategy briefings with George Bush's chief of staff!

This is the height of irresponsible journalism! What could be worse than the liberal media's sycophantic coverage of President Barack Obama? ABC's George Stephanopoulos actively helping design and deliver the administration's strategy and message -which he is then charged with reporting. Will he be critical ofthe White House's plans when he spends mornings helping to craft them?+ +
Urgent Action Item
Clearly, journalistic lines have been crossed -- especially by Stephanopoulos who presents himself as a credible journalist and not a partisan commentator. That is why I am asking every member of the MRC Action team totake immediate action right now.
Here's how you can directly impact this breaking situation:
++ Call ABC News
take a moment to contact ABC News and express outrage that one of their so-called journalists is involved in daily planning meetings with the White House. Demand that he recuse himself from any reporting involving the Obama Administration. Here is the number to call the contacts below: 202-222-7700
George Stephanopoulos
Ariane De Vogue,
News Producer
Mary Walsh, News Producer
Toni Wilson, News Producer

After making your phone calls, please click here so that I can count your calls. I'd like to be able to report on our efforts.http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?U=15909&CID=500&RID=18278804

++ Alert your Friends we can't allow this outrageous affront to go unchallenged!
That's why, after making your calls, I'm urging you to forward this message.
So, Rush and other conservatives must be silent and Obama's pit bull Emmanuel will give daily marching orders to his version of PRAVDA, the sympathetic left-wing media.
If this doesn't send a chill up your spine, WAKE UP!!

Dems to Limbaugh: Pipe Down!

from Focus on the Family
Congressional Democrats Want Limbaugh to Quiet Down or ELSE

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition to express its outrage after conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh attacked the president's liberal policies.
The petition follows a warning from President Barack Obama that Republican leaders should stop listening to Limbaugh if they want a good relationship with Democrats and the new administration.
Limbaugh told Sean Hannity he’d love to support Obama if he chose different policies:
“If he’s going to do FDR, if he’s going to do the new, New Deal all over — which we will call here the Raw Deal — why would I want him to succeed?”
Mike Johnson, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, said he was appalled at the petition effort.
“This is absolute nonsense," he said. "It goes to show us once more that the radical left in the country depends upon the ability to censor and silence opposing viewpoints.”
Johnson said the real target of the petition is obvious.
“Free speech and religious liberty (are) the only things that stand in the way of (their) agenda," he said, "and so free speech and religious freedom are imperiled.”
Johnson also noted that congressional Democrats have more important things to focus on, such as terrorism and the economy.
— Roger Greer

Obama can't complete his takeover of this nation with those of us in the opposition criticising him. Too bad. It's called the First Amendment. You remember, your favorite part of the Bill of Rights when some pornographer or atheist wants to spout filthy, blasphemous language into our children's ears!
But beware, this petition is merely a shot across the bow. What the Democrats are planning to do next is say, "Well, Rush (and by extension, Leticia) we tried to warn you nicely, but since you wouldn't stop criticizing, we're gonna hafta shut ya down." Enter the Fairness Doctrine. Then, I'll have to share my blog with some pro-abort atheist. I'll shut it down first.
Read this article in NCR on what the Fairness Doctrine will do to Catholic Radio.

What will I do with all the time I'll have on my hands?

The Roving Reporter at the Personhood Conference in Washington DC

Friars Didacus, Augustine and Roderic from Our Lady of Guadalupe in Griswold were ready to go down in Washington DC during the March for Life. Fra Roderic was able to "land a few big fish" when he stopped Fr Frank Pavone of Priests for Life for this interview and Dr Alan Keyes for this interview.
Here are more interviews with Lila Rose, and Fr Tom Vanderwoude, whose heroic father recently gave his life for Fr Tom's youngest brother Josie, with Down syndrome.

What Blago did wrong was get caught

I might be wrong, but Gov Blagojevich's corruption just may be part and parcel of business as usual in the corrupt Chicago machine. How could a completely innocent person come from infamous Crook County? Except for the Chosen One, of course!
I look at it this way; Blogo was in on the game of musical chairs, taking quid pro quo without shame till somebody from the Chicago machine got elected to national office and suddenly, the music stopped, and everyone grabbed a chair. Except Blogo!
Maybe he knows where the bodies are buried and threatened to talk. . .

And, why hasn't Gov Patterson in New York been questioned at all about exchanging favors in his selection of Gillebrand for the Senate seat?
Methinkg something is rotten in Crook County.

A week of true Christian Unity: Anglicans come home to Rome too!

What a week the Catholic Church has had! First, the warming of relations with SSPX, now this.
We must be doing something right!
The Pope is preparing to offer the Traditonal Anglican Communion, a group of half a million dissident Anglicans, its own personal prelature by Rome, according to reports this morning.

History may be in the making", reports The Record. "It appears Rome is on the brink of welcoming close to half a million members of the Traditional Anglican Communion into membership of the Roman Catholic Church. Such a move would be the most historic development in Anglican-Catholic relations in the last 500 years. But it may also be a prelude to a much greater influx of Anglicans waiting on the sidelines, pushed too far by the controversy surrounding the consecration of practicing homosexual bishops, women clergy and a host of other issues."

Republicans find a backbone!

from the Family Research Council
GOP Loses Standoff, Wins Respect
President Obama came to the Republican mountain, but he didn't manage to move it. In his much-anticipated meeting with the House minority, the new leader tried to soften opposition to the $1.1. trillion stimulus package.

Obama did concede on one of the Republicans' largest complaints--the hundreds of millions of dollars in contraception. Sorry SIECUS!!
He stripped that provision, along with a beautification project for the National Mall,(which his Inaugration crowds stripped bare) but neither compromise did much to ease Republicans' minds. Like us, they see the "recovery package" not as stimulus but as a major pork-and-payoff bill that quietly authorizes the most controversial pieces of Obama's social agenda. Although the legislation passed this evening 244-188, the GOP did set in motion a new era of opposition, voting unanimously against a bill that would take government into the final frontiers of universal health care and federalized education.

In the face of the most popular incoming President since JFK, Republicans stood together in statement of solidarity. We applaud them for showing real backbone against unprecedented government expansion. As the veil begins to drop from the shady elements of the stimulus, more people are beginning to understand what's at stake.
Today's New York Times reads, "Stimulus Offers Road to Retooling Social Policy" with "little notice and no public hearings." We thumbed through the 1,588 page H.R. 1 and found plenty of waste. Obama offers: $600 million to buy "green" cars for government workers; $400 million to help NASA conduct climate change research (which ranks dead last on Americans' priorities, according to a new Pew poll); $4.1 billion for "neighborhood stabilization activities," for which ACORN (the Democrats' get-out-the-vote machinery) would be eligible; and even $227 million to oversee the pork spending in the stimulus (Page 11). Medicaid would expand for the poor, the uninsured, and the unemployed, opening the doors to universal health care. And the bill would more than double the Department of Education's current budget. Swimming against the liberal tide isn't easy, and House Republicans need your encouragement to stay motivated for the work ahead. Please call the leader in your district today and thank them for refusing to back down on H.R. 1.

Why the media block out the March for Life by a journalist

"one could argue that the fact that tens of thousands of people have been descending on Washington on January 22nd for 35 years is, in itself, a remarkable achievement which should at least be acknowledged by the major news outlets.
By ignoring the March for Life, the news media do a grave disservice to the public. Viewers have a right to know that thousands of their friends and neighbors find it important enough to miss work and school one day each year in a show of solidarity against abortion. "

That's why I'll be working on my article about the March tomorrow.

Creative Minority Report: Bishop Fellay Does The Right Thing

Creative Minority Report: Bishop Fellay Does The Right Thing

Time to pray for SSPX

Bishop Fellay the superior of SSPX asked for the excommunication of his society to be removed and for Sumorum Pontificum, or the allowing of the Tridentine Mass without requiring the bishop's approval. Now, in return, Pope Benedict is asking that Vatican II be accepted by the Society. This is a big sticking point. We need to pray. Read about it at Catholic News Service.

I am no fan of Vatican II but the more I learn about it, the more I realize how the disastrous implementation of the "Spirit of Vatican II" had NOTHING to do with the Council's intentions.

I was enlightened by Anne Roche Muggeridge's (daughter of British journalist Malcolm Muggeridge)book "The Desolate City" which explained the intentions of the Council was NOT to abolish the Latin Mass, just include more of the vernacular, but the liberals who had been waiting for a chance to destroy the Church seized the opportunity, and ran roughshod over poor ailing Pope Paul VI who declared, "The smoke of Satan has entered the Church". He did have the strength to write the prophetic "Humanae Vitae" but by then the inmates were in charge of the asylum and it was roundly rejected. No wonder that those who knew him in the Vatican called him, "Paolo Sesto, mesto" (Paul the Sixth, the sad).
You know, maybe this is the year of St Paul for a reason other than the 2,000th anniversary of his conversion to Christianity. Maybe Pope Paul is in there too.

What the FOCA?!

OK, it's rude, but I suppose that's the point. There is nothing polite or cultured about what happens to babies in abortion. SO, today is What the FOCA day till 10PM .
Learn about FOCA and how it would literally destroy what's left of American society, and if you think it won't affect you, think again. You are now on record reading a blog which will certainly be banned under FOCA. It's the most dangerous piece of legislation ever to be cooked up by Congress, and the time to stop it is NOW, before it gains momentum.

Bishop Hermann Speaks out boldly on abortion!

In our Supreme Court and in our Congress, we have a plethora of so-called Catholics who are failing to live their Catholic identity. Over 50 percent of our electorate voted for a president who is one of the most pro-culture-of-death candidates from a major party to run for the highest office of the land. Yes, we can thank one-half of our Catholics for bailing out on their faith! After almost 50 years of having 50 percent of Catholics abandoning their Catholic identity, we cannot expect to turn this culture around by short-term political efforts. In order to bring about a transformation from a culture of death to a culture of life, we have to restore our Catholic identity.
Can you hear me giving Bishop Hermann a standing ovation?! HE GETS IT! That's why Catholic bloggers blog, why all the new efforts at engaging media are directed at; reach the Catholic in or out of the pew with the truth. Sadly the tradtional route of doing this is often blocked by the very people who are charged with evangelization; liberal DRE's, Liturgists, 'leaders of song', and half-hearted priests who need a retreat with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. I knew a liberal priest who inspired me to write angry letters after each homily he gave, where he eviscerated Church teaching (thankfully I tore them up before sending them). Father spend 48 hours with the CFR's in Harlem and came back on FIRE for the Faith. He moved the tabernacle to the center of his church, introduced Eucharistic adoration, and Benediction, added hours of confession. .. and his homilies! Whew, such Catholicism!!
Now, he's entered the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. This conversion began with only 48 hours in their Friary in Manhattan where Father saw dozens of young men from around the world in love with Our Lord and His Church. Someone had to be praying for him. Someone had to invite him. BE THAT SOMEONE for you pastor!

Pornography is the silent killer

Take it from Ted Bundy, the sick serial killer whose execution interview with Dr James Dobson is being re-aired. Many have denied that what he said was true, that his crimes were inspired by his addiction to pornography. Few want to admit that the 9 BILLION dollar industry is dragging American Society down into the depths of hell. I heard the interview years ago, and never forgot his chilling warning. I never forgot how intelligent and reasonable he sounded when he discussed his unspeakable crimes and how pornography was responsible for twisting his talented mind into that of a monster.

Read more at Life Site News.
"Bundy permitted only Dr. Dobson to interview him in his final hours because, as Dobson noted, “Bundy wanted to talk about the role media violence and particularly violent, hard-core pornography had played in his years-long killing spree, and he knew the mainstream media wouldn’t report that story.”
Despite growing up in an almost idyllic Christian home, Bundy said that his moral values were subverted by the softcore pornography he discovered outside his home as a preteen. The addiction led him to view materials that were not only pornographic but also violent in nature. "The wedding of those two forces - as I know only too well - brings about behavior that is too terrible to describe," said Bundy."

Reconciliation with Society of St. Pius X?

Alleluia!
This is something readers know I have had in my prayer intentions. I have many good friends in the SSPX. Here we are in St Michael the Archangel Chapel in Farmingville, NY. We had a homeschool co-op with our friends at SSPX for three years.
Here's a great explanation from Jeff Mirus at Catholic Culture:

A web service from Trinity Communications. The news dominating the Church right now is Benedict XVI's lifting of the excommunication of the Traditionalist leaders of the Society of St. Pius X. The Holy Father made this significant gesture in the hope that full communion would soon follow. Here are the documents you need to understand what this does and does not mean:
Catholic World News:
Vatican decree lifts excommunication of SSPX bishops
The Decree Itself:
Congregation of Bishops Document Repealing Excommunications of SSPX
Response of SSPX:
Letter of the Superior General of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X
Pre-Analysis by Phil Lawler:
Bishop Williamson, making trouble again
Post-Analysis by Jeff Mirus:
Lifting of Excommunication: Mixed Feelings
Pope Benedict also stressed Christian unity during this past week, which is not insignificant since the SSPX has grave reservations about ecumenism. Future talks may clarify whether these reservations concern doctrine or only abuses. In any case, Benedict has made some important points in his talks On Seeking Christian Unity and Prayer for Unity and Reconciliation among Christians. Also of note is the Church's increasingly aggressive use of the Internet as a tool for evangelization.

Thus the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace has made a wealth of documents on Catholic social teaching available on a new web site: The Social Agenda. And the Holy See has even opened up a major channel on YouTube: The Vatican on YouTube.

Pepsi is on the Gay rights bandwagon

from the American Family Association
Pepsi is now using its TV spots to promote the gay lifestyle. AFA asked Pepsi to remain neutral in the culture war. Pepsi refused. The company said it will continue major financial support of homosexual organizations seeking to legalize homosexual marriage.
Pepsi gave $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest and most powerful gay lobbying group in America. The company also gave $500,000 to Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The total gift of $1,000,000 to the two homosexual activist groups was to help promote the gay lifestyle in the workplace.
After Pepsi gave their money to HRC, HRC gave $2.3 million to oppose California’s Prop 8, an initiative which defined marriage as being between one man and one woman.
Pepsi also forces its employees to attend sexual orientation and gender identity diversity training, where they are taught to accept homosexuality.
Take Action!
Watch the 30-second TV ad.• If you haven’t already done so, sign the Boycott Pepsi Pledge.• After signing the pledge, please call Pepsi (914-253-2000 or 1-800-433-2652) and tell the company you will boycott its products until its stops promoting the gay agenda. Please be polite.• Pepsi’s products include Pepsi soft drinks, Frito-Lay chips (800-352-4477), Tropicana (800-237-7799), and Gatorade (800-367-6287).• Print and distribute the Boycott Pepsi Petition to family, friends, fellow church members, and others. Millions of people are not aware of Pepsi’s support of the gay lifestyle.• Join our cause on Facebook
This boycott has nothing to do with whether or not Pepsi hires homosexuals, or if homosexuals purchase Pepsi products, or how Pepsi treats its homosexual employees. This boycott is about the fact that, as a corporation, Pepsi is promoting the gay lifestyle.

Free abortions for all nations from our new President

Catholic Bishops are speaking out against President Obama'sfunding of pro-abortion groups who are trying to exportabortion to other countries. Obama's decision to reverse the Mexico City policy is "very disappointing," said Cardinal Justin Rigali, chairman of the U.S. Bishops'Committee on Pro-Life Activities.
Cardinal Francis George, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, notedthat promoting abortion in other countries will also"increase distrust of the United States in these nations, whose values and culture often reject abortion, at a time when we need their trust and respect."

220 Million for contraception in 'bail-out' package

UPDATE: Breaking News!!!
The provision for contraception has been removed!!
NBC News confirms that the president called Henry Waxman, the chairman of the committee that inserted the contraception provision into the stimulus during the mark up last week, to ask him to remove the measure from the bill, according to a Democratic leadership source.
In short, the idea has simply become too controversial. Speaker Nancy Pelosi's defense of the program over the weekend, where she indicated that it would be a money saver, was not well received.
So that provision is out.

Nice work, friends of life! We created a controversy that forced Obama to break his promise to his SIECUS and Planned Parenthood friends. They were lobbying at the Rayburn Builiding on Jan 22 with the March for Life people. I warned them not to count us out! Whoohoo!
Read more here.

from the Family Research Council
Exactly what kind of stimulus did Speaker Nancy Pelosi have in mind?
That's a question more Americans are asking now that details are trickling in about the controversial $825 billion "economic recovery" package. As it stands, more than 10 percent of the proposal--$87 billion--would allow states to expand their "family planning" services through Medicaid. The country's recession is crippling families, and the Democrats' solution is spending billions of dollars on contraception? On yesterday's "This Week" program on ABC, George Stephanopoulos pressed Speaker Pelosi for an explanation. STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost... The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health... [is] to help the states meet their financial needs... [O]ne of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government. (mother of five says this-my comment)
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies

PELOSI: No apologies. No. We have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy. In other words, children are a burden to the economy, and Pelosi believes it's the government's responsibility to eliminate them. More than anything, her comments underscore the shortsightedness of these liberal policies. All reports indicate that the global family is on the decline. Although America's birth rate isn't plunging like that of European countries, it has slowed.
The reason we don't find ourselves in a "demographic winter" is largely because of the fertility rates of our immigrants, many of whom come from cultures that value life. Overall, the U.S. is hovering at its replacement level, which is hardly enough to finance the Baby Boomers' retirement. If Pelosi and her Congress continue to deemphasize the family, America will travel even farther down the deadly path of our European friends. In the meantime, Congress continues to spend outside of its means, proving that the nation will need more children--not less--to help pay the bills for Social Security, Medicaid, and other government entitlements that Democrats hope to expand.
Obviously, there's a practical danger in suggesting that babies are problems or "punishments" (as President Obama called them) instead of blessings that build bridges to the future. For a realistic look at real economic recovery, we encourage you to read FRC's just released tax policy proposal, now available online at www.frc.org.
Read the Life Site News article on this outrage below.
George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week" asked Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a self-avowed Catholic: "Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?"
Pelosi responded: "Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."
"So no apologies for that?" asked Stephanopoulos.
"No apologies. No," Pelosi responded.
"We have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy."
Now that Nancy Pelosi has had her five children, she is going to hand out contraceptives to the rest of us, the great unwashed who teach our children that family life is a blessing, not an economic risk. It's starting to sound like eugenics have already entered into Obama's "New Deal".
Catholic League President Bill Donohue criticized Pelosi’s statement, saying: “Now we have Pelosi arguing that the way to balance the budget is not by cutting expenditures, but by cutting kids. We have reached a new low when high-ranking public office holders in the federal government cast children as the enemy. But at least it explains their enthusiasm for abortion-on-demand.”

Washington Times on lack of media interest in March for Life

One of the most important reasons I attend the March for Life is to cover it for you who can't make it there. We were told that the crowd of 300,000 was one of the largest ever, yet we barely make the obituary pages in mainstream press.
At least the Washington Times has the honesty to discuss the issue, but their article leaves me wondering; where are the photos of the hundreds of thousands of marchers? Their photo of Nellie Gray makes her look as lonely as the ten pro-aborts whose photos keep popping up in the photo gallery.

No paper I have read has the sense of fairness to show the impressive shot of the March filling Constitution Avenue from Capitol Hill.

KIDS at the March for Life

Here is a sneak preview of KIDS at the March for Life. The weather, thanks to many prayers, was a balmy 45 degrees, and spirits were high as we assembled in the National Right to Life Headquarters.
Seen with Eileen Haupt is Rep Cathy McMorris Rogers, part of the Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus. She gave KIDS a warm welcome in her office later that day.
A dozen members of the group Youth with a Mission were with us and posted their photos here.

The Truth about Roe v Wade

View the heart breaking testimony of Norma McCorvey, the plaintiff Jane Roe of Roe v Wade, who is now a pro-life Catholic, on how she is fighting to overturn the Supreme Court Case which made her famous.
Both she and Sandra Cano of Doe v Bolton have regretted being used by the pro-abortion forces as means to achieve their evil ends. Fifty million babies have been aborted since the tragic 1973 decision, which legalized abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy.
Over 90% of Americans do not support this. Our voices need to be heard.
Pray that someone sponsors this powerful commercial on a big venue, like the Super Bowl.

40 Days for Life

Text of Holy Father's Telegram to Barack Obama

On the occasion of your inauguration as the forty-fourth President of the United States of America I offer cordial good wishes, together with the assurance of my prayers that Almighty God will grant you unfailing wisdom and strength in the exercise of your high responsibilities.

Under your leadership may the American people continue to find in their impressive religious and political heritage the spiritual values and ethical principles needed to cooperate in the building of a truly just and free society, marked by respect for the dignity, equality and rights of each of its members, especially the poor, the outcast and those who have no voice.

At a time when so many of our brothers and sisters throughout the world yearn for liberation from the scourge of poverty, hunger and violence, I pray that you will be confirmed in your resolve to promote understanding, cooperation and peace among the nations, so that all may share in the banquet of life which God wills to set for the whole human family (cf. Isaiah 25:6-7). Upon you and your family, and upon all the American people, I willingly invoke the Lord’s blessings of joy and peace.

What a beautiful way to commemorate Sanctity of Life Sunday.

The Donut Wars

I have never purchased a Krispy Kreme donut. A store opened and closed near my former home on Long Island, and I never missed it. Donuts are one fattening food which offerd little tempation to me. Well, except for Boston Creme from Dunkin' Donuts.

So, when Krispy Kreme decided to sponsor "Freedom of Choice Day" on Inauguration Day, January 20th, I didn't pay attention. I had ignored Ben and Gerrys's new ice cream "Yes Pecan" and Pepsi's "Refresh America" campaign, so I figured I'd ignore the latest insult to our intelligence. Like we don't notice how the mainstream media and many businesses are throwing branches in the path of the Messiah. "Robert Knight, author and media analyst, said Pepsi’s advertising may just be trying to capitalize on the “honeymoon” that Obama is currently enjoying. “I think, given the effectiveness of Obama’s message, Pepsi is merely getting aboard the bandwagon and trying to capitalize on the good feeling -- that a new era of optimism has arrived,”
Knight told CNSNews.com.
However, it seems the donut wars will be joined, since they have become a significant battle of the culture wars raging in this nation. No company with a maketing department can claim not to know that the pharse "freedom of choice" refers to the abortion movement. Krispy Kreme's claim that this was not their intention is disingenuous to say the least. I suspect more sinister motives.
They just didn't count on a new alternative media out there to respond; the Catholic Blogosphere.
When you Google "Krispy Kreme Freedom of Choice" my friend and fellow Pro-life Blog Awardee Barbara Curtis at "Mommy Life"is at the top of the list, followed by Faith and Familiy Live blogger Danielle Bean. We don't buy the clarification offered by Krispy Kreme either.
We don't just sit back and take the pro-abortion rhetoric anymore; we fight back. The liberals were thrown on their heels by this, and came back swinging. Of course, since they don't have truth on their side, they have to get dirty and violent in their content. So much for "hope" and "change". I see business as usual. Liberals expect to have their outrageous views unapposed and when they are, they go ballistic.

Walk for Life West Coast expects record turnout

Prolifers are accostomed to things not going their way. So, when we lose an election, we are even more inspired to take to the streets. Such is the case in San Francisco, where the Walk for Life West Coast is expected to exceed last year's count of 30,000.
Mayor Gavin Newsom spoke against the March five years ago when it was small, but now that they are a force to be reckoned with, he has quieted down.

No Freedom of Speech at Inauguration!

In order to attend this Inauguration, you must leave your First Amendment Rights at home.
Funny, I remember there being dozens of obnoxious young protesters led by adults at the Bush Inauguration in 2000. We had to push past them to see the parade. But the Chosen One will not have dissenters as he ascends the throne.
"Now the Christian Defense Coalition is filing a lawsuit in U. S. District Court on Friday, accusing the police department of infringing on First Amendment free speech rights. The pro-life activists are seeking a temporary restraining order against police.
"Is this the future of free speech and political dissent under President Obama?" Mahoney asked in his statement. "The streets in front of the White House should be open to all views, opinions and thoughts. It should not be a place of censorship and intimidation. I hope this was not the kind of change President Obama was talking about."

This makes me colder than the subzero temperatures outside my door.

George Weigel thanks President Bush

I am not alone in thinking that George Bush may be the most Catholic-friendly president the US will ever have. He may even become a Catholic now, as others have speculated, including myself.
He certainly was a great Christian, unashamed to admit that Jesus was his inspiration and Saviour, despite biting ridicule. Some day he will be repaid by that, and it won't be by Time Magazine.
"I should like to praise him for his steadfast support of the pro-life cause, domestically and internationally. Thanks to President Bush, we have two more Supreme Court justices who likely know that Roe v. Wade was terrible constitutional judging, and dozens more federal district court and appellate court judges with similar convictions. Thanks to President Bush, the U.S. government drew an important moral line in stem cell research, even as the administration accelerated bioethically sound research strategies that have produced real results. Internationally, the Bush administration stood firm against the Gadarene rush to use international law to declare abortion an international human right and a necessary component of the emancipation of women; as one senior Vatican official put it to me, a year ago, “We know we’re never going to have another American administration as supportive of our core issues as the Bush administration has been.”

Fr Tom Euteneuer about the Inauguration and the March for Life

"Obama v Life"

Dear Friends of Life,
As tens of thousands prepare to gather for the 36th annual March for Life in Washington, DC, we are aware that the March occurs just two days after the most extreme advocate of abortion in our nation's history takes office as our President. It is not an understatement to say that we have our work cut out for us.
In keeping with our mission, Human Life International is making a concerted effort to educate the fawning Obama admirers in other countries about the reality of the all-out assault on life, marriage and family that this man and his administration will perpetrate on our world. Please pray for the success of our endeavors to expose the truth and to wake people up to the true challenges that await us in the next four years.
I include in this week's Spirit and Life our newest project to educate those who love life both in America and abroad: namely, the "Pro-Life Talking Points" series. (See side bar.) The first number of the set, called "Obama v. Life," launches just before the Presidential inauguration next week so that we can let all know, in our modest way, that we will counter the anti-life agenda wherever we can.
In any case, please print out the Talking Points for this week (only two sides, front and back) and pass them on to your friends and any of those "Catholics" who voted for Obama. They may need this sheet more than anyone.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer,
President,
Human Life International

President Bush designates this Sunday "Sanctity of Human Life Day"

As a parting gift to the pro-life movement, our President (yes, he still is our president) has designated Sunday Jan 18 as "Sanctity of Human Life Day". God bless him, so many who are villifying him now will someday realize what a great man and good president he is.
I remember the mockery President Reagan received inthe media, yet when he died, they lionized him in ways I never anticipated. Time will tell us that President Bush was the most pro-life president we have ever had, a good and decent man whose deep Christian faith informed all his decisions.
“The sanctity of life is written in the hearts of all men and women. On this day and throughout the year, we aspire to build a society in which every child is welcome in life and protected in law. We also encourage more of our fellow Americans to join our just and noble cause. History tells us that with a cause rooted in our deepest principles and appealing to the best instincts of our citizens, we will prevail.” Bush is scheduled to deliver a farewell address Thursday night which White House counselor Ed Gillespie described during the morning briefing as “optimistic and future-oriented.”

The pro-death agenda of the 111th Congress

from the Family Research Council
On the first day of the 111th Congress, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) sent a very clear message about what pro-lifers can expect from the next two years by introducing S. 21, "The Prevention First Act" that would direct hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to the abortion industry, a business that already receives over $286 million each year from federal taxpayers.
It should come as no surprise that Planned Parenthood, the largest supporter of unrestricted abortion, praised the bill. And why not? The abortion merchant will likely be the largest beneficiary of Reid's abortion bailout.
Among other things, the legislation would use taxpayer funds to mislead people about the potential of the "morning after pill" (known as Plan B) to act as an abortifacient. It also encourages the use of Plan B for victims of sexual assault yet has no reporting requirement in place for young girls who may have been victims of abuse and/or rape. When you get right down to it, the bill does nothing to support parental involvement--let alone consent--for dispensing the morning after pill and other "contraception" to minors.
In addition to funding Plan B, the measure would also: subsidize birth control for college and low-income women; expand Title X, the main federal family planning program that requires abortion referrals; expand Planned Parenthood targeting of low-income women through Medicaid; target teens' with "comprehensive" sex education; and spread emergency contraception.

Doug Kmiec rebuffed by Fr Neuhaus

Doug Kmiec is miffed at the Catholic blogosphere for being pro-life, and noticing that he no longer is, by his assocation with and approval of the most pro-abortion man ever to run for office.

But, why waste words explaining why he is wrong, when Fr Neuhaus did so with his customary aplomb, here in the National Catholic Register.

"I do not know what has prompted Mr. Kmiec’s current advocacy, and I take him at his word that he has convinced himself that his position is consonant with being a faithful Catholic.

The fact is, however, that, after all the tortured reasoning and misrepresentation of the positions of others, Doug Kmiec has put himself into the position of supporting for president a candidate whose track record and publicly stated views represent the extreme position of pro-abortion advocacy against the Church’s repeatedly stated teaching, at the highest level of magisterial authority, respecting the moral and political imperative to protect innocent human lives.

NaPro Technology Seminar offered in CT this weekend

The seminar will introduce the leading "all natural", "all green", Creighton Model FertilityCare system, for the full spectrum of women’s health issues, for doctors and nurses, and all of us, in the Tri-State area, PA and RI.
It isSaturday, Jan 17, 2009 11:30 am to 4:30 pm (Optional Mass at 10:30)
Location: The Villa Maria Guadalupe Retreat Center,
159 Sky Meadow Dr.,
Stamford, CT, 06903

To Register or for questions contact:
Dorothy Dugandzic, CFCP, 914 476-4858.
Fee: $45 Lunch will be offered.

With the explosion of medical data and information on the Internet in the 1990’s,women have become more discriminating in their medical selections. "All natural"“all green” is popular. The FertilityCare all-natural system aligns with these trends and delivers the associated benefits that women seek.
For example:
· The hormones used in treatments are bio-identical and have the same exact chemical formulas as the hormones made by the body. This enables full · cooperation with all of a woman’s reproductive functions.
Whereas hormones· used in the pill are not identical to those produced by a woman’s body and· cause problems.· Biomarkers are used. This enables doctors to customize treatments to the individual woman and to cure causes of problems. Whereas the pill treats symptoms, and masks causes.
· Of the natural family planning systems supported by the Catholic Church, this is the most scientific capable of curing
1) complex conditions with multiple causes such as some cases of infertility and miscarriages
2) sophisticated techniques for early pre-cancer detection and
3) treatments for the widest spectrum of conditions – including: Menstrual Cramp, Premenstrual syndrome, Ovarian cysts, Irregularities, Abnormal bleeding, Polycystic ovarian disease, Hormonal abnormalities, Chronic discharges, Female Libido Wellness, Related Depression.
As a result, the Creighton Model FertilityCare system has a great track record with impressive published success rates such as· 85% for the treatment of chronic infertility is 85% vs 35% for IVF.
For additional information, see http://www.fertilitycare.org/napro/infertility.htm andhttp://www.aafcp.org/infertility.html ·
For pregnancy postponement it offers a very competitive 98.7-99.9% method effectiveness without the risks of the pill – associated with taking the pill’s artificial hormones.

Come and hear Dr. Scanlon and Dr. Watson discuss this system in great detail. Also hear Alexandra and Paul McLaughlin discuss the role of the practitioner followed by a review ofthe NaProTECHNOLOGY textbook by Dr. Scanlon. Dr. Hilgers has done his job for the Church, and it is now our job to spread the word.
Each of usis vital to God's plan.

Perelli the advocate of death

from the Family Research Council
Change Watch: Perrelli Edition
In some of his final Cabinet selections, President-elect Barack Obama dipped into the well of recycled Clinton appointees to help round out his Department of Justice leadership team. Pending their confirmations, four of the top DOJ posts will be filled by attorneys that served the last Democratic president. How's that for "change"? One of those nominees, Thomas Perrelli, is best known as the right-to-kill lawyer who represented Terri Schiavo's husband pro-bono in his suit to euthanize his wife. In a leadership position for the Justice Deparment, Perrelli's anti-life stance could be devastating. As the third in command, he is certain to play a key role in a number of cases, some of which could include end-of-life issues. In an interview with the Washington Times, FRC's Tom McClusky outlined how Perrelli's appointment as associate attorney general was "detrimental" to the pro-life movement. In the media world, however, Perrelli seems to have at least one staunch ally. Wild liberal Keith Olbermann, host of MSNBC's "Countdown," highlighted Tom's quote on yesterday's show and named him "the worst person in the world" for criticizing Perrelli's nomination.

In my opinion, if you're on Olbermann's hit list, then you must be doing something right. For a balanced take on Perrelli's background, stop by www.frcblog.com for the latest in our "Change Watch" series. On Friday, check back for analysis on Education Secretary-designate Arne Duncan.

Tough times ahead in Congress

Did you really expect "hope" and "change" without a total shutdown of the democratic process? Wait till the Obama administration fixes it's eye on the media.
from Focus on the Family
As we expected, congressional Democrats are moving quickly to consolidate their power and silence opposition to president-elect Obama’s agenda.House Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats reinstated an archaic rule that greatly limits the ability of the minority party to amend pending legislation. One congressman said this move “severely limits the democratic process in the House.”Unprecedented time of challenges to faith and familyThis is just the latest sign that we are entering an era that we have not experienced in our lifetimes -- a season of unprecedented challenges to faith and family on so many fronts.
I addressed this rules change and other crucial issues facing our nation right now in the first installment of the Focus Action Update -- a new weekly video feature from our staff here at Focus on the Family Action.

George Weigel recently found that the youth of Poland have forgotten their greatest legacy, Pope John Paul and Lech Walensa's Solidarity Movement. This is shocking considering that they owe their freedom today to their sacrifice and courageous activism.

When I went to Poland in 1987, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Gorbachev and Reagan were talking peace. Millions of Poles packed churches spilling out into churchyards, kneeling on the frozen cobblestones, praying. Their churches were festooned in the colors of the Vatican, and the motto "Totus Tuus". They knew the name of their deliverer, and his means, his Marian consecration and the powerful intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Pray for them Black Madonna, that they may remember you before it is too late.

International Down syndrome Coalition for Life

It's time we who love someone with Trisomy 21 which I reluctantly call Down syndrome for clarity, stand up against the culture which rejects our children.
Diane Grover has done that with her new International Down syndrome Coalition for Life.
We are tired of organizations which claim to support our children, and do promote awareness of the quality of life of children with T21, ignore the fact that our children are targeted at a rate of 90%. Join IDSC for Life and fight the national scandal of preborn eugenics which mar this country, and will eventually lead to our downfall.

Supreme Court to decide Obama's eligiblity to become president

If he is not qualified, and this story is true, I cetainly hope that this is decided before the Inauguration. This would be a travesty of justice, almost equal to our election of the most pro-abortion politician in US history.

The Pro-life Legacy of President Bush

Here's an excellent article from the National Catholic Register which sets the record straight on the pro-life accomplishments of George W. Bush.

“The most lasting and significant progress made under President Bush is represented by the two Supreme Court justices [John Roberts and Samuel Alito] that he nominated and the Senate confirmed,” said Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life.
“That was the motivation for so many voters who elected the president both times. And it has already paid off, as the Supreme Court upheld the ban on partial-birth abortion,” he said. “Other federal courts, too, have been given men and women who for decades will issue decisions consistent with the moral law, thanks to President Bush.
“Legislatively,” Father Pavone added, “it’s only in the years ahead that we’ll fully appreciate the significance of the progress that was made by the pro-life laws the president signed.”

Unfortunately, many won't realize how great he was until these horrific pro-abortion appointees of Barack Obama take office. His adminstration is looking more ominous by the day.
Let's greet our new president at the March for Life, Jan 22,2009.
We are here, we're loud and we're not going anywhere, Mr.Obama!

RIP: Fr. Richard John Neuhaus

I have been an admirer of Fr. Neuhaus for years, in fact he helped inspire me to get involved in writing in what he calls the "Naked Public Square". It was my great honor to tell him so in person at the Society of Catholic Social Scientists Gathering at St John's University in October of 2007.
As a world class intellectual and apologist, he has done so much good for the public image of the Church, so you should not be surprised to learn he was a convert, having been a Lutheran minister. He knew and appreciated the great deposit of faith we have in Catholicism, as anyone who has read his journal, "First Things" will attest. Here is his meditation on his conversion from which I take this quotation,
"As for now, I end where I began—as in my life’s course I began where I have ended—by saying again: “To those of you with whom I have traveled in the past, know that we travel together still. In the mystery of Christ and his Church nothing is lost, and the broken will be mended. If, as I am persuaded, my communion with Christ’s Church is now the fuller, then it follows that my unity with all who are in Christ is now the stronger. We travel together still.”
We still travel with you, Fr. Neuhaus, in the Mystical Body, and ask for your prayers as we, the Church Militant, try to uphold your legacy here in the Vale of Tears.
May the angels lead you into Paradise, Fr. Neuhaus!

Brownback Mourns the Passing of Father Neuhaus
Contact: Brian Hart, Becky Ogilvie; both with Sam Brownback, United States Senator - Kansas, 202-224-6521
WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 /Standard Newswire/ -- U.S. Senator Sam Brownback yesterday offered his condolences on the passing of Father Richard John Neuhaus.
"I offer my condolences to the family and friends of Fr. Richard John Neuhaus. For several decades, he has been a critical voice in our national discussion of religion and public life. He taught us that our public conversation must always be about the 'first things' of how we ought to order our lives together. He wrote more persuasively than perhaps anyone today of the need for democracy and free markets to always be sustained by a vibrant moral culture. We are a grateful nation because of the witness of Father Richard John Neuhaus. May he rest in peace."
Father Neuhaus founded the popular journal First Things and was credited with bringing together Evangelicals and Catholics into an effective coalition. He was a prolific and influential writer focusing on religion and public policy and he argued that faith should not be excluded from the public square. Father Neuhaus died due to complications with cancer. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters."
