Bishop Hermann Speaks out boldly on abortion!

In our Supreme Court and in our Congress, we have a plethora of so-called Catholics who are failing to live their Catholic identity. Over 50 percent of our electorate voted for a president who is one of the most pro-culture-of-death candidates from a major party to run for the highest office of the land. Yes, we can thank one-half of our Catholics for bailing out on their faith! After almost 50 years of having 50 percent of Catholics abandoning their Catholic identity, we cannot expect to turn this culture around by short-term political efforts. In order to bring about a transformation from a culture of death to a culture of life, we have to restore our Catholic identity.
Can you hear me giving Bishop Hermann a standing ovation?! HE GETS IT! That's why Catholic bloggers blog, why all the new efforts at engaging media are directed at; reach the Catholic in or out of the pew with the truth. Sadly the tradtional route of doing this is often blocked by the very people who are charged with evangelization; liberal DRE's, Liturgists, 'leaders of song', and half-hearted priests who need a retreat with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. I knew a liberal priest who inspired me to write angry letters after each homily he gave, where he eviscerated Church teaching (thankfully I tore them up before sending them). Father spend 48 hours with the CFR's in Harlem and came back on FIRE for the Faith. He moved the tabernacle to the center of his church, introduced Eucharistic adoration, and Benediction, added hours of confession. .. and his homilies! Whew, such Catholicism!!
Now, he's entered the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. This conversion began with only 48 hours in their Friary in Manhattan where Father saw dozens of young men from around the world in love with Our Lord and His Church. Someone had to be praying for him. Someone had to invite him. BE THAT SOMEONE for you pastor!

Pro-Life March on the Feast of the Holy Innocents II

Fr. Groeschel gave my friends and I his blessing, and I asked him to repeat the last line of one of his best stories, the old Jewish grandma whose grandson told her that the Red Sea didn't part for Moses and the Israelites, the water simply went out with the tide. Annoyed, the grandma asked, "you were THERE?!"

Here is the book of shrine of the children who died unborn, opened by our beloved late Cardinal John O'Connor.
The girls are asking their three unborn siblings in Heaven to intercede for their family on Earth.
The sisters looked like so many 'angels among us'. Among them was fellow Long Islander Virginia Sanglimbini, whose brother is in our seminary. A Recent article about the new type of nuns('todays nun has a veil, and a blog!')
in Time Magazine featured Virginia, who was very interested in watching the Sisters of Life play volleyball on the beach on the campus of her college, SUNY at Ft. Schuyler in the Bronx. Her boyfriend quipped, "well, if you're so interested in them, why don't you become a nun?" Virginia answered, "maybe I will".

Pro-Life March on the Feast of the Holy Innocents I

I woke up late this morning, and flew into the city in a record hour 15 minutes, very disappointed to have missed Mass with Fr. Groeschel. We arrived just as the Mass was ending, and joined the march to a local abortion mill, praying the rosary and singing hymns as we went. I'll let the pictures tell the story of what the sight of dozens of beautiful younng religious in full habit does to worldly wise New Yorkers.

Fr. Groeschel giving the marchers the good news that there had been 5 turnarounds, or women who decided NOT to abort their children that day.
We celebrated over lunch provided by a couple of former New York restaurant owners who traveled 100 miles to provide lunch for us today. When Fr. Groeschel commended them, he said," I do it for the unborn". I had the feeling all day that I was walking in the company of saints.

The killing center, 800 Second Avenue, with over a hundred praying Catholics outside. Former abortion mill employees tell us that when people are praying outside, the whole atmosphere changes inside, and the workers get nervous and irritable. Our prayers are indeed felt, and make a difference, although, those who change their minds about having an abortion are usually sent out the back door, to avoid encouraging us.
