CINO House Members challenge Cardinal Dolan to create War on Poverty

from the Catholic League
Rep. DeLauro is the enemy of the poor, thus she has no moral leg to stand on. She has worked to kill school vouchers for children with disabilities and has voted against scholarship grants for African American students in D.C. But she is a big champion of abortion, including abortions where the baby is 80 percent born; she has even voted to fund abortion with federal dollars.

DeLauro’s Catholic credentials include authoring a “Statement of Principles” in 2006, signed by 55 Catholic Democrats. The document made the argument that it is entirely legitimate to be a Catholic in good standing and promote abortion rights. In 2007, DeLauro was one of 18 Catholic Democrats to criticize the pope for his remarks on this subject.

Also signing DeLauro’s letter were Nicholas Cafardi, Daniel Maguire, Marie Dennis and Stephen Schenck. No sooner had Archbishop Charles Chaput moved from Denver to Philadelphia when Cafardi surfaced saying “Chaput would be well-advised to leave politics aside.” But now Cafardi wants the pro-life archbishop to get involved in politics by lobbying for welfare. Maguire is so in love with abortion rights that he has condemned Mother Teresa for her yeoman work, branding her “a firm defender of male dominance.” Dennis is co-president of Pax Christi International, an organization that has blasted the pro-life work of the Susan B. Anthony List. And in 2009, Schenck signed a letter praising the nomination of Kathleen Sebelius; she is an advocate of partial-birth abortion who was denounced by the last three archbishops of Kansas City.

We would be remiss if we didn’t notice the curious relationship between DeLauro and the Catholic News Service which arranged the interview.

I taught English as a Second Language in public schools in the ghetto. I know how to overcome poverty, but the Democrats have no interest in stopping poverty, just in creating entitlement programs to keep poor people on their voting rolls. If they were interested, they would offer school vouchers. The Catholic Church teaches millions of poor children, and would happily teach millions more, if we had the funding.
So here is my email to Rep Rosa De Lauro, pro-abort hypocritical,  CINO politician.

Dear Rep De Lauro,
I am a constituent of Joe Courtney and a former public school teacher in the poor neighborhoods of New York.
The best way to end poverty is school vouchers.
But you and Joe Courtney are too beholden to the teacher's unions to give poor children a chance to get decent education, and you support Obama who has completely cut abstinence programs, the other way out of poverty. So, you don't care if the students are in dangerous schools, live chaotic lives of drugs and sex, and never leave their desperate circumstances.
And yes, abort their babies.

Some Catholic teaching!

Should Geraldine Ferraro be given a Catholic funeral?

My friend Dr Gerry Nadal has a thought provoking piece over at his blog Coming Home which may make me change my mind on whether Geraldine Ferraro deserves a Catholic funeral. Its about mercy, not covering up her public sin of being unabashedly pro-abortion.
Something is radically wrong here. If the people seem indifferent to abortion, might they be mirroring their bishops? The point of public censure of such politicians is at once medicinal for the politician, and catechetical for the laity. If the Kennedy’s and Ferraro’s of our time do not merit public censure and prohibition of Eucharistic reception in life, then it seems pointless and even cruel to suddenly get serious about their souls in death.
This funeral discussion has more to do with the cowardice of our bishops than we may like to admit. Catholic politicians use bishops to lend them support, maybe not verbally, but they rush to St Patrick's Day parades to file past St Patrick's Cathedral wearing shamrocks waving and smiling. What does that tell the Catholic faithful who are often too lazy to look at any programming other than ESPN and the parade? Images speak louder than words to a public which is only semi-engaged in their spiritual lives. They lead to this kind of thought,
"These guys are just one of us. They're OK to vote for. Why not, our bishops seem to support them? "

Why don't the bishops fight for their salvation before they die, by telling them  in plain language the true state of their souls and arguing with them about their sins? Its not condemnation, its an act of mercy. Its a spiritual act of mercy to admonish the sinner.
St Maria Gorretti cared more for Alessandro's soul than for her own life, when he was threatening to defile her, she didn't beg for her life, she told him, "No, no, no, its a sin, you'll go to hell!" Maria cared more for Alessandro's soul than he did. It should be the same for the bishops, They should be willing to become unpopular for the sake of Ted Kennedy's or Geraldine Ferraro's eternal destiny. This is hardly martyrdom.
They may be doing it privately, but if a sin is public, it requires a public denunciation for the sake of the scandal it causes, for the bad catechesis as Gerry Nadal says.

Remember Cardinal O'Connor? Here is a tribute to him on EWTN's website.
Cardinal O'Connor battled with prominent Catholic abortion rights supporters, most notably with former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo and Geraldine Ferraro, the 1984 Democratic vice presidential nominee. Cardinal O'Connor refused to accept their position, writing in 1990 that Catholics who opposed the Church's teachings on abortion by "advocating legislation supporting abortion, or by making public funds available for abortion ... must be warned that they are at a risk of excommunication. If such actions persist, bishops may consider excommunication the only option."
He gave pro-abortion politicians a run for their money, just ask Mario Cuomo who  coined the phrase, "I'm personally opposed to abortion, but I don't want to inflict my beliefs on others". The good Cardinal never let him or Geraldine Ferraro away with that kind of doublespeak, and they both treated him shamefully. They imposed excommunication on themselves by supporting abortion publicly and never publicly apologized. Cardinal O'Connor cared for their souls more than they did and did them the favor of pointing that out to them, despite their rude responses. That is why, at his funeral, President and Mrs Clinton were forced to stand for a ten minute ovation when his courageous stand on life issues was lauded. It was a wonderful teaching moment, I was never prouder to be a Catholic in New York than that moment.

Maybe we should support a Catholic funeral for Geraldine Ferraro because of how desperately she needs our prayers. I think the reason we balk at Catholic funerals is because they become canonizations, like Teddy Kennedy's in Boston. We know these politicians thumbed their noses at Catholic moral teaching and no one corrected them publicly from the chancery. Then, their friends, fellow crooked politicians, knowing the cameras are rolling, use the occasion to extol those virtues which happen to fall within Catholic teaching, like advocating for the poor, while ignoring their pro-death stand on abortion. All of this happens while the Cardinal is silent, within the Holy Mass. It's intolerable!
Wouldn't it be refreshing to pro-lifers and instructive to lukewarm Catholics who see Ferraro's funeral in the news to hear a bishop say, "we know that if she did not repent of voting for the death of millions of unborn children, then she is in hell, so let us pray for God's mercy on her immortal soul."
Now that's Catholicism, justice and mercy!

Carl Palladino is right

He speaks the truth and supports Catholic teaching that homosexuality is an aberrant lifestyle. It is not best for the raising of children. And children should NOT be exposed to the nudity and sexual behavior which is on display at gay pride parades. Straight people don't typically act that way in public, or they'd be just as wrong.
And Bill O'Reilly is a pinhead. He said that Palladino isn't in sync with the American people. It's true that thanks to jamming of information in the media and the public schools, many Americans are getting sucked in by false compassion, I have a feeling that the majority are still turned off by gay marriage. And agree with Palladino no matter what they tell pollsters. We're fed up with the gay agenda being shoved down our throats.

Well know if he wins in November.

Victory for the true feminists!

It was such an exciting day yesterday to hear about how an authentic feminist, Sarah Palin, a woman who cleaned up corruption in Alaska, bucked the establishment both that of corrupt male politicians AND corrupt, pro-death feminists who say you can't be pro-life and powerful.
WRONG!
Women (and men) finally have a choice when it comes to female candidates. Carly Fiorino has the business acumen AND the pro-life credentials to make her a principled, COMPTETENT candidate to root our corruption, overspending and pro-death Senators.

Bye, Bye Boxer!

Former Senator Santorum blames overemphasis on diversity for Ft Hood Masscre

"The Fort Hood massacre is now forcing us to consider whether the military's commitment to "diversity" as job one prevented military officials and the Department of Defense from "connecting the dots" when it came to the accused shooter.

You remember that concept, right? "Connecting the dots" was all the rage right after 9/11. Just eight years later, however, we're all wondering how the military brass failed to notice the many red flags surrounding Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, including his vocal opposition to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, his Islamic proselytizing, and his ties to radical Islamists.

Could a perverse and overriding commitment to "diversity" have something to do with this deadly failure?"
Former Senator Rick Santorum in the Philadelphia Inquirer

Of course this has to be the assumption of the great majority of the American people. But do they have the courage to whisper  it in the public square where those who are not politically correct are swiftly punished for stating the obvious?
That this terrorist should have been discharged from the Army keeping him from emotionally damaging soldiers returning from the battlefield to defend this nation, is obvious. That he presented a clear and present danger not only to the soliders whom he treated as a psychiatrist, but to women whom he disdained, and to his fellow soldiers at Ft Hood is also obvious.
What is also becoming clear through the silence of Obama on human rights abuses in China and Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to give Constitutional rights to foreign terrorists who abhor the very freedom it stands for, that political correctness is endangering the lives of all Americans.
We are not at war with terror anymore, terrorists are just ordinary citizens, and repressive Chinese communists are our friends because they buy our debt. This type of doublespeak is reminiscent of the novel 1984. If not, please read the summary here. It is a prophetic book for our time.

Do the parallels between this book and our society frighten you as much as they frighten me?
