The Church in America needs the Catholic League

Deacon Keith Fournier wrote a column about the Catholic League.
"I am deeply grateful for the work of the Catholic League in defending the Catholic Church and all of her sons and daughters at the beginning of a new missionary age. In the boardroom, the marketplace, at the movies, in the halls of political power, on the television, the internet or on the front page of newspapers, they are there to defend the rights of the Church to proclaim and live her liberating message. I am convinced that as our culture becomes increasingly hostile to the message of the Catholic Church we need this defender of the faith now, more than ever. "

I couldn't have said it better myself! It was my great pleasure to meet Dr Donohue at the Society of Catholic Social Scientists Meeting in October 2007 and praise his leadership in defence of the Church in person. The speaker who introduced him said he was chosen to lead the League because on a televised 'talking heads' debate during which he defended the Boy Scouts vigorously, he signed off with a smile. He takes his battle seriously, not his ego. Bill Donohue is the St Thomas More of our day. Let's hope he escapes his fate.
