Most Americans Say Lawmakers Should Be Religious

I knew this, however this will surprise those who listen to mainstream media.

According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center,

 61% of Americans say it is important that members of Congress have strong religious beliefs;

 34% say it is not important. 

Majorities across all major religious groups, except the religiously unaffiliated, agree that it is important for national lawmakers to have strong religious beliefs.

Heres's the formula;
 if the Church uses her worldwide pulpit to point our your genocidal activity (death camps, abortion, assisted suicide) and you need to silence her, just fabricate a 'new' scandal. Use a typs of sex which is against the law, which will really scandalize 'em back home. Use the terrible cases of a few pedophile or homosexual priests who abuse children as your hook, unearth ancient facts and present them as breaking news, and bam, you got yourself a scandal to silence the Church. Then, you have a media blitz, and your cohorts in politics will craft appropriate legislation to punish the Church while protecting everyone else, and those in charge of the Culture of Death will reap the benefits.
According to this article in MercatorNet, Hitler had a media (propaganda) specialist, Joseph Goebbels, whose job was to provide not only cover for genocide, but polish Der Fuhrer's image, and recruit for the cause. Sound famliar? There are several news outlets which conduct what Bernie Goldberg called "ASlobbering Love Affair with the curent administration, which is bent upon forcing ordinary Americans to pay for the murder of the unborn and infirm under Obamacare.
The Nazis response to Pope Pius XI's "Mit brennender Sorge" a severe criticsm of the Nazis was the fabrication of a moral panic over a priestly pedophilia. These so called scandals cost the Church millions, but more importantly, lower the Church's credibility when the Pope criticizes the regime. After all, that was the goal of the 'scandal'.
Can you blame Pope Pius XII for taking a more cautious route, and hiding millions of Jews in convents, schools and even the Vatican?

The expression “moral panic” was only coined by sociologists in the 1970s to identify a social alarm created artificially, by amplifying real facts and exaggerating their numbers through statistical folklore, as well as “discovering” and presenting as “new” events which in reality are already known and which date to the past. There are real events at the base of the panic, but their number is systematically distorted.


Even without the benefit of modern sociology, Goebbels responded to the encyclical Mit brennender Sorge in 1937 with a textbook case of the creation of a moral panic.

No one is more outraged by abuse of minors and its cover up than I, but I don't see the use of getting the public worked up about 50 year old cases in which the perpetrator and most of his victims are dead.
And I'm not fooled by the timing of this 'crisis' which occurred just when aCatholics were THE lynchpin in deciding the fate of Obamacare.
I just can't help but notice that a common author of this formula of scandal is the same enemy who rejoices in the loss of souls due to genocide, AND pedophilia.

Harball's Chris Matthews shamelessly berates Bishop Tobin

Here is the  Hardball video of the unbelievably rude behavior of Chris Matthews telling Bishop Tobin he had no moral authority over Congressman Patrick Kennedy, and suggesting he 'reflect' on his behavior. Matthew's arrogance was breathtaking, he gave Bishop Tobin very little time to respond, it wasn't an interview, it was a diatribe; no wonder his ratings are abyssmal!


Now we are going to have to pray hard for Chris' conversion, he has a lot to repent of after this interview. I fear for his soul should he suddenly meet God after treating a good bishop so shamefully and misleading the Catholic public. He has a millstone around his neck, if only he could see it!

Billionaires meet to decide the future of humanity

What do Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Mayor Bloomberg, Ted Turner, George Soros and Oprah Winfrey have in common?
Money. Lots of money.
Power, insane power, some of it hidden.
A messiah complex. They want to save the Third World.
I am not judging their intentions, I know how the misery of the poor affects me, I pray for them every night, and do my share to help my in-law in El Salvador escape poverty. I DO fault them for two things; they see the Church as an obstacle. No other institution has done more for the poor in the entire history of the world than the Catholic Church. This explains the second reason I am opposed to this powerful group who met in Manhattan on May 5 in a top secret meeting; they see abortion and birth control as the answer to the problems of the poor. They are ignorant of the way the poor view children; as their greatest treasure. Why not give them medecine, schools and micro loans to help them escape the miserable conditions in which they live?
Give the poor of the Third World the dignity to decide how they will be helped.
"Taking their cue from Gates," reports the Sunday Times, "they agreed that overpopulation was a priority." However, this could rattle "some Third World politicians" who are old-fashioned enough to think that "contraception and female education weaken traditional values".
Is it only Third World politicians who think that contraception weakens traditional values? How about the rest of us?

As Mosher argues in his important book, Population Control: Real Costs, Illusory Benefits,, "For over half century, the population controllers have perpetrated a gigantic, costly and inhumane fraud upon the human race, defrauding the people of the developing world of their progeny and the people of the developed world of their pocketbooks."
Of course fat cat elites will suffer nothing from such programs, just the poor and voiceless. But never mind, it is for the good of humanity. "

Patrick Madrid on Demographic Winter

Such are the fruits of the Culuture of Death. How many times have our Popes tried to warn us about this? From Pope Paul's prophetic Humanae Vitae to Pope John Paul II's Evangelium Vitae, to Pope Benedict, who addresses this topic frequently we have been instructed to be open to life and stop contracepting. Yet materialism has hardened our hearts. Like my former neighbor, who proudly told me that she was 'done' after one child, since she and her husband had decided to buy a sailboat instead of having a little brother or sister for their lonely son. James used to peek through the pickets of the fence which divided us, at my two daughters playing together in our yard. He had the big boat, all right, but he still envied us.
Once I brought Christina, who was then a toddler to visit Congressman Tim Bishop (D-NY) a pro-abortion Catholic, who was having a town meeting in fabulously wealthy Westhampton. Dozens of retired denizens of Wall Street were lamenting loudly their fears that their Social Security checks might be reduced. (Whatever do they do with such a paltry sum; pay dues at the Country Club?)
Christina and I were waiting for an opening in the clamour to address Rep Bishop's refusal to vote for the ban on Partial-Birth Abortion. Soon, Christina, for whom pulling to a stand was a new accomplishment interrupted the noise with her unexpected giggling. Heads turned to glare at her for interrupting, and I jumped at the opportunity to address the Congressman, "Congressman Bishop, I seem to be disrupting your meeting; let me get a word in, and I'll be happy to leave". I strode, Christina in arms to the front of the room, and asked the crowd if she had a life worth living. I pointed out that her disability is the main reason barbaric practices like Partial-Birth abortion are used. An angry man in the crowd told me to "Shut up and sit down". Since the Congressman looked relieved to get rid of us, I did leave, shooting over my shoulder, "I am a teacher, and the classroom I look out at every day is 1/3 emptier because of abortion. If you are worrying about the future of Social Security, remember that you killed one third of the young workforce which would have been paying into the SS system.".
Jaws dropped, as I turned on my heel and walked out. No one living their selfish lives running after the good life, thinks they are part of the bigger picture. But, like it or not, they are. Each choice we make effects the entire world.
I would have like to be like my friend Mary Ellen, giving birth to my eighth child, but due to multiple miscarriages, I have only three girls. We have to thank unselfish women like Mary Ellen for the wealth of children they have given to this world.
Once, a swelter ting hot summer day at the Bronx Zoo was interrupted by a violent thunderstorm, which cleared out the place. When the brief storm subsided, only three families where there besides mine. All three had more than eight children. All three were deeply religious. They were Hasidic Jews, Muslims from Pakistan, and my friends, an Italian American deeply Catholic family of ten. A thought entered my head, "These people are the future of the world". The secularists are contracepting themselves out of existence.
God will not be mocked. His first command, given to Adam and Eve was "be fruitful and multiply". He has never revoked this. We just stopped listening.

· The National Catholic Reporter blasts all the bishops—“Not one among the bishops has had the courage”—to take on pro-life Catholics who have allegedly “distorted” the abortion issue
· Rabbi Brad Hirschfield criticizes Cardinal Egan for being anti-abortion, saying, “We need to stop litmus testing each other over single issues” like abortion. “We”?
· Catholics for Choice says that pro-abortion Catholics “are in good company, and in good conscience” for rejecting the Church’s teaching on this subject
· Rev. Daniel Kanter, a Unitarian, says the Catholic Church “employs a measure of fear” to get Catholics to oppose abortion
· Rev. Jonathan Tran, a Baptist, opines, “If the Church doesn’t tell us what to do with our ballots…and genitalia, who will?” “Us”?
· Professor Frank K. Flinn says the Catholic Church has not always been opposed to abortion, implying that the Catholic Catechism, the bishops and the pope are all wrong
· Rev. Geoffrey Farrow, a gay priest, says the Catholic Church’s opposition to gay marriage represents a “hurtful” theology
· Atheos, a musician, says Proposition 8 “is nothing but Bigotry—good ol’ Christian bigotry”
· Los Angeles Times writer Steve Lopez says that “Speaking up for the dignity of gay people must be a greater sin than being accused of molesting minors”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responds as follows:

“Even worse are American Atheists, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Freedom from Religion Foundation. All accuse the Catholic Church of abusing its power by favoring Proposition 8, yet none says anything about the more than 100 houses of worship and religious organizations which oppose it. Their hypocrisy is appalling.”

You see how the internet is an equalizer. Expect it to be targeted if Obama wins. It will be payback time for those of us who weren't on board. The American Family Association is one of the most powerful grassroots organizations in America. They got 880,000 people to email the FCC about Janet Jackson's disgrace at the Superbowl. Was Tony Snow a more sincere Catholic than Tim Russert?

It's not for us to judge the state of an individuals soul, but just look at Russert, who supported pro-abortion Catholic politicians Moynihan and Cuomo, and Snow who worked in a largely pro-life Bush White House (yes, I know Bush promoted the use of embryonic stem cell lines, but held firm against killing more embryos for more cells) President Bush's pro-life accomplishments are unmatched, however, and no one doubts his sincerity on this issue, he never tried the Cuomo lint, "I will not impose my personal religious beliefs on others". You are known by the company you keep. Tony Snow was a quietly Catholic in word and loudly Catholic in action.
Here's an anecdote from a Republican insider.
"Tony always spoke of his spirituality in a different way than did Russert, who wore it on his sleeve in almost a patronizing manner, despite his history of liberalism. I just saw Dana Perino, Tony's successor at the White House who used to hang around my office at the State Capitol back in the early '90s when she was a college student & TV intern from southern Colorado & I was chief PR poobah for the House GOP, interviewed live on Fox News; Dana said that Tony always kept a Bible (Holy Family or something similar?) on his desk that he readily & regularly consulted. "

Universally Liked, Universally Missed
In Washington one meets a handful of people who are almost universally liked and respected. So much is at stake in the partisan battles in the capital that having the admiration of political friend and foe alike is rare. Tim Russert achieved that and so did Tony Snow. Tony spoke at the FRC Action Values Voter Summit in 2006 and described with relish his experience at the White House with a mix of professionalism and amazement that was endearing and all-American. He knew, appreciated, and communicated how lucky he was to have been born in the U.S. of A., grown up in the Midwest, and had the chance to work in hallways and places he had dreamed of as a kid. That youthfulness, and the bedrock values that fueled him, never faded, whether at the peak of his success or in the throes of his illness. The proximity of those two things, the peak and the throes coming at once, and the way he handled both with wit and verve only underscored how grounded he was. He will be greatly missed. They were just practicing Darwinism, by speeding up the process of natural selection, formerly called survival of the fittest, by eliminating "useless eaters". Society bought into this toxic mentality because it came from doctors and scientists.
He followed their trail to Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, who was a dedicated eugenicist, working overtime to rid the world of people like my immigrant grandparents. While she was ostensibly offering women choice, secretly she was seeking to rid American society of the 'unfit'. More Darwinism in action. We are still in the midst of the nightmare of Sanger's legacy; 46 million Americans have died of abortion, far surpassing the darkest dreams of Hitler and Stalin together.
Ben Stein did us the invaluable favor of holding a spotlight of truth on some of society's darkest secrets, and those valiant scientists who have dared to reveal them to academia. They were expelled from their positions and blacklisted from obtaining further employment. Oxbridge and Ivy League graduates who have produced world renowned work. They mentioned Intelligent Design once and they were gone. Nothing but strict Darwinism will be tolerated by academics. What happened to scientific inquiry and academic freedom?

Stein then exposed the utterly laughable theories of scientists who would rather make up some fairy tale about Extra Terrestrials coming to earth and planting "human seeds" from which we emerged, to life's beginnings as molecules bumping together as they "rode the backs of crystals".
With his trademark aplomb and vintage film clips adding humor and highlighting the outrageous statements captured by his camera, Ben Stein has created a classic which will one day be appreciated, as the film that drew society bent on self-destruction, back from the precipice.
If it's not too late.
If we continue to allow ourselves to be dominated by militantly atheistic scientists whose agenda blinds them to the fact that evolution is a 150 year old theory which has NOT withstood scientific advances, we will find ourselves in a totalitarian state. The scientists themselves admitted on camera that they wish to destroy the power religion holds on culture, and relegate it to an innocuous hobby, like knitting.
Global warming and political correctness will have replaced the Judeo-Christian belief in the dignity of man, the pinnacle and master of God's creation. We will find ourselves enslaved to a materialistic ideology. Our very right to exist will be determined by what the powerful consider a worthwhile contribution to society, against our carbon footprint. Many of us may not make the cut.
Terri Schiavo didn't.

Political Correctness Fails at Papal Youth Rally

The Papal Youth Rally at Dunwoodie had musical acts in the hours which preceded it, MC’ed New York City news anchors, all of whom were raised Catholic. Sadly none of them were comfortable with their Catholicism. Mary Murphy, anchor of the CW11 Ten O’clock News, learned this fact rather painfully when she cheerily asked the crowd, “Who are you for, Clinton or Obama?” This evoked loud BOOOing from the crowd, and Murphy, obviously shaken, attempted a rebuke, “You don’t want to mix religion and politics, do you?” to which the crowd responded as one, “YES WE DO!!” Desperate to reclaim the high ground, Murphy pulled out the PC trump card, “I mean, you believe in the separation of Church and State, don’t you?” “NOOOOOO!” shouted the crowd.
A man beside me quipped, “She should stick around for the Holy Father’s address, she might learn something!”
Indeed, in his talk, the Holy Father described what happens when religion is banished from the public square.
“My own years as a teenager were marred by a sinister regime that thought it had all the answers; its influence grew - infiltrating schools and civic bodies, as well as politics and even religion - before it was fully recognized for the monster it was. It banished God and thus became impervious to anything true and good.”
And in his homily at Yankee Stadium, Pope Benedict reviewed the history of Catholicism’s influence in American public life,

“In this land of religious liberty, Catholics found freedom not only to practice their faith, but also to participate fully in civic life, bringing their deepest moral convictions to the public square and cooperating with their neighbors in shaping a vibrant, democratic society.”

The Holy Father explained how faith must be incorporated into contemporary life:
“Praying fervently for the coming of the Kingdom also means being constantly alert for the signs of its presence, and working for its growth in every sector of society. It means facing the challenges of present and future with confidence in Christ’s victory and a commitment to extending his reign. It means not losing heart in the face of resistance, adversity and scandal. It means overcoming every separation between faith and life, and countering false gospels of freedom and happiness. It also means rejecting a false dichotomy between faith and political life, since, as the Second Vatican Council put it, “there is no human activity – even in secular affairs – which can be withdrawn from God’s dominion” (Lumen Gentium, 36).(Emphasis mine) It means working to enrich American society and culture with the beauty and truth of the Gospel, and never losing sight of that great hope which gives meaning and value to all the other hopes which inspire our lives.”
I hope that Mary Murphy was listening, and is able to bring her Catholic faith to work as anchor of Channel 11 news, as the rest of the faithful strive to incorporate their faith without shame to their roles in contemporary society, bringing hope to American society.

We were praying this Novena while the Gov. Spitzer scandal hit

Looks like Spitzer's confession was a good first step towards his conversion.

Someone suggested recently that we (especially New Yorkers) should pray, beginning today ( or whenever you read this) the very powerful novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague (usually a 9 HOUR emergency novena, but we're praying it over 9 DAYS instead) for the conversion of NYS Governor Spitzer and the defeat of his most dangerous abortion bill.

NY Gov Eliot Spitzer involved in Prostitution Ring

Married with three children, Governor Eliot Spitzer has been named as Client No. 9 for Emperor Club VIP, an expensive prostitution ring operating out of Washington, DC on Feb 13, 2008. He managed to squeeze in a prostitute between testifying before Congress and appearing on CNBC. Just before St. Valentine's Day. What a sleazy thing to do!
What Spitzer didn't realize is that the escort service was under investigation, so now that he's caught, he decided to apologize for "Not living up to my own moral standards" Fox News says he will may be indicted by the Southern District Court of NY. The liberal media may try to give him a pass on this, but he has touted himself as a corruption crusader here:
Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.
In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.
The NYS Assembly minority leader has called for Spitzer's resignation here.
James Tedisco, Republican leader of the State Assembly, said Spitzer “has disgraced his office and the entire state of New York. He should resign his office immediately.”
If we raise enough of an outcry, we may force him out of office and defeat RHAPP Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act.
