Safe Schools Czar chooses gay lifestyle and bigotry over God

This is Obama's idea of a 'Safe Schools Czar'; Kevin Jennings, director of GLSEN who dreams of spreading homosexual propaganda to public school children. Here is an article which describes the moment he chose sexual perversion and anti-Christian bigotry over his relationship with God.
Is there any doubt that Obama is an atheistic radical?
Can we trust any of his appointees not to destroy the morals of this nation?
"Before, I was the one who was failing God; now I decided He was the one who had failed me," wrote Jennings. "I decided I had done nothing wrong: He had, by promising to 'set you free' and never delivering on His promise. What had He done for me, other than make me feel shame and guilt? Squat. Screw you, buddy - I don't need you around anymore, I decided."
Jennings concludes by saying that for years afterwards he "reacted violently to anyone who professed any kind of religion" and it would be decades later before he opened a Bible again.
But Jennings still retains contempt for observant believers on what he calls "the religious right." In fact, Jennings told a gathering of fellow activists in 2000 that conservative-minded Christians were "hard-core bigots" who should "drop dead." But the GLSEN founder had the group laughing by telling them he really wanted to just say to them: "f*** you!"

President Obama's speech to schoolchildren

Here is the link to the white house webpage containing the President's speech to schoolchildren today.
Here's a part of the speech which I like. Except that when you refer to government responsiblity for schools, I wish he meant the local school board, and I'm pretty sure he means the NEA. My comments as always, are in red.
"I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.
But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.
And that’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.
Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.
Maybe you could be a good writer – maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper(or a blog critiquing the President's speech!) – but you might not know it until you write a paper for your English class. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor – maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine – but you might not know it until you do a project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a Senator or a Supreme Court Justice, but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team."
I like the way he takes away the excuse many poor children have who are minorities and come from broken homes.

"But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life – what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on at home – that’s no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That’s no excuse for not trying.
Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you.
Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future. "
Funny, he never said this during the campaign, his supporters were actually waiting for checks to arrive after the election. He implied that he was going to send them all money.
What I do resent is that, taking a page from the Bill Ayer's manual, Obama circumvented the family and spoke directly to students. That's not unusual, I see liberals doing that all the time.
But, where is this going?
What's in the next speech?
What's in the lesson plans?
Never trust a man who lets babies die in abortion. He has no morals.

NYS Public Institutions to pay for sex abuse as well

Kudos to the Catholic League and the bishops who insisted that if the Church was to be open to lawsuits from sex abuse committed years ago, that public schools should too. According to a report by Prof Carol Shakeshaft of Hofstra University, this puts them in a far worse position than the Church, as public schools are 100 TIMES more likely to abuse children than Catholic priests.

In case you think these approvals of gay marriage are the will of the people, you need to do two things; remember Propostion 8 in California which overturned the state Supreme Court approval of gay marriage, and the following statement from Focus on the Family Citizen Link.
Tim Gill's money is buying gay marriage votes nationwide. What he can't buy is our approval, and that of our children IF we are careful to keep their thinking straight. It's going to be an uphill battle with the gay activists controlling the schools. And their best friend in the White House.

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch has yet to touch the same-sex "marriage" bill that is sitting on his desk. But if he does sign it, some of the "credit" will go to gay-activist Tim Gill, who has poured massive amounts of money into the state.
Gill’s money also has helped pro-gay candidates win seats in California, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, New York and elsewhere.
Brad Miller, director of the Family Policy Council Department at Focus on the Family Action, said Gill knows how to make an impact. More than three-quarters of the candidates he has backed have won.
“He networks with like-minded folks across the country, and then he directs those individuals to give," Miller said. "So, it’s not just his money, but it’s the money of other wealthy individuals on the Left.”
Kevin Smith, executive director of New Hampshire’s Cornerstone Policy Research, said that while he may be behind on the financial side of the equation, he still has the public's support.
“Between (Gill's) group and the Human Rights Campaign," he said, "they’ve dumped significant amounts of money — at least tens of thousands.”
Smith said he's counting on the fierce independent streak in New Englanders to resist pressure from Gill and eventually put his lawmakers out of office.

CT Gov Rell signs gay marriage bill

Now the Supreme Court's ruling to approve gay marriage will be forced upon the rest of Connecticut, especially the public schools. I am counting the days till I have to take Christina out of her local public school inclusion program. Just visit the website Mass Resistance to see the extremes Gay Lesbian Straight Educational Network (GSLEN)will go to to re-educate your children against the traditional veiws of marriage and family. Be on the lookout for titles like "King and King" and "Who's in a Family?" as the thin edge of the wedge of the gay agenda in your child's school. I just wrote a piece for Canticle magazine's Sept/Oct issue on this subject, and I fully expect it to be outdated by the time it goes to print. Maine, New York, Rhode Island may well have approved gay marriage by then. Then it goes directly to your public school, starting in Kindergarten, according to David Parker who fought a good fight in Lexington, MA. Gay marriage was approved there in 2003, and by 2005 he had a fight on his hands, leading to his arrest and banishment from his 5 year old son's school. Then his son was beaten on the playground, while school officials did nothing.

GSLEN cares about violence against gay students, as stated on it's website, but no one stood up for the little boy whose parents dared object to homosexual indoctrination.

"Rell this afternoon signed Senate Bill 899, which incorporates the findings of the Kerrigan case into Connecticut statutes. That ruling, handed down by the state Supreme Court in October, paved the way for same-sex marriage."

Even though the article mentions an amendment to protect religious instituions, Raymond Arroyo on "The World Over" Friday sounded skeptical as to whether the government might be able to impose homosexual lifestyle indoctrination on Catholic schools.

Why didn't we fight harder?! What happened to Republican Governer Rell?

Heres' one good shepherd, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of Rhode Island who's not going down without a fight. Read his inspiring piece in the Rhode Island Catholic. "The march toward gay marriage across our nation is relentless, and liberal New England is leading the way. The supporters of gay marriage in Rhode Island are well-organized and well-funded. They’re fiercely determined to impose their politically correct agenda on all the citizens of the state – human history, culture and moral principles not-withstanding. Anyone who opposes them is quickly labeled a bigot.
And what’s the typical response of Catholics in Rhode Island? “As long as it doesn’t affect me, I really don’t care what other people do,” you say. “We shouldn’t judge other people,” you demur. “The Church is losing its influence. I don’t think there’s anything we can do,” you rationalize.

Well, my friends, gay marriage will affect you and you should be concerned. And there’s a lot we can do. . ."

Thank you, Bishope Tobin for your leadership in Rhode Island. Thank you Family Institute of Connecticut and Holy Apostles Seminarians for protesting this disatrous legislation. My heart is broken, but I'm not defeated, like Winston Churchill, I've only begun to fight. My children's future is worth it. I will not have the Catholic faith marginalized while I draw breath.

CT: SB 899 Passes with protection for religious liberty

SB 899 Passes--But *Only* After Being Amended to Protect Religious Liberty!
The headline on The Courant's website nicely summarizes the end result of the fight over SB 899: "Amendment Gives Religious Organizations Exemption to Same-Sex Ruling." Make no mistake: The amendment is not perfect and SB 899 itself is the result of an illegitimate court ruling, not the will of the people.
That said, the bill passed last night is a significant improvement for religious liberty in the wake of that ruling. After the Kerrigan same-sex "marriage" decision, religious liberty in Connecticut was left wide open to each and every one of the ssm-related attacks on it that have occurred elsewhere. The amendment passed last night goes beyond Kerrigan and gives protections to religious liberty in Connecticut that Kerrigan did not. The amendment also gives religious liberty many of the protections which were explicitly rejected by the Judiciary Committee last month.
In my March 6th testimony before the Committee I cited several examples (Boston Catholic Charities being forced out of adoption services, the New Jersey Methodist organization losing tax-exempt status over a pavilion, the Canadian Knights of Columbus hall that was sued) of ssm-related attacks on religious liberty which made an amendment necessary. The Committee treated our concerns with contempt and on March 30th passed SB 899 with no amendment to prevent those attacks. But almost every one of the ssm attacks I mentioned will now be against the law in Connecticut because of the amendment that was passed last night.
When it comes to protecting religious liberty, the version of SB 899 which was passed last night is miles ahead of the Judiciary Committee's version. Of course, you will not hear that from our opponents. They are claiming that they are satisfied with the amendment passed last night. History suggests otherwise.Going into yesterday's vote, the adamant position of Love Makes a Family and its lobbyists was: "Pass 899 with no amendments." Once it became clear that we had the votes for an amendment, their strategy shifted to having Sen. Andrew McDonald offer a phony amendment. But McDonald's amendment was shot down in behind-the-scenes discussions by senators who were unhappy with him and with Rep. Lawlor for forcing yet another religious liberty controversy upon the legislature.
At that point, the only way for Love Makes a Family to claim victory was to say they were satisfied with our amendment, as they are now doing. The overwhelming vote for our amendment was a product of the 20,000 phone calls the legislature received this past week--and of the continuing backlash against SB 1098, the bishop removal bill. Connecticut legislators are very sensitive--at the moment, at least--to any suggestion that they oppose religious liberty. That dynamic helped shift the ground on SB 899 to the point where even Lawlor and McDonald had to vote for an amendment which they surely would have condemned as anti-gay "bigotry" just six weeks ago.
FIC is very grateful to the 60 or so volunteers who joined us throughout the day to lobby legislators. I especially want to acknowledge the seminarians of Holy Apostles College in Cromwell and the prayer warriors of the Connecticut House of Prayer. "We fight not against flesh and blood" and several victories against unseen adversaries occurred yesterday because of your prayers and your support.
As recently as a week ago SB 899 was expected to sail through the legislature with no amendment. That did not happen because of all of you. But, while yesterday was a significant victory for us, there is still more to be done.
An FIC-supported amendment to require parents be notified before "gay-friendly" curricula are taught in schools and be allowed to "opt out" was defeated in the Senate and the House. Watch for more information on that vote and what you can do about it.

People of Connecticut don't want SB 899 to curb their freedoms

This poll is vastly reassuring to a new resident who wonders what kind of foreign land she has entered. My red state neighbors might be more permissive than I in terms of supporting gay marriage IF activists don't foist it upon their children's schools, local magistrates, businesses or adoption agencies, which has happened in neighboring Massachusetts, and will happen here if SB899 is passed.

By wide margins, voters don’t want same sex marriage bill without strong religious freedom protection.

A significant majority of Connecticut voters want significant changes to a proposed Connecticut law on same sex marriage, according to a new Knights of Columbus-Marist poll.
With the Connecticut legislature considering the implementation of the state’s Supreme Court decision in Kerrigan, which mandated same sex marriage, the poll found that Connecticut voters want any legislation to steer clear of violating First Amendment religious liberty protections and oppose many of the legislation’s potential consequences.
Voters are nearly evenly divided (within the margin of error) on the issue of support for politicians who support same sex marriage legislation (with 1 in 5 undecided).
But, by a 3 to 1 margin (57 percent to 19 percent), Connecticut voters are less likely to support a politician who votes in favor of same sex marriage legislation without religious liberty protection for faith based organizations.
Among the poll’s other key findings:
• 7 in 10 disapprove or strongly disapprove of imposing penalties or fines on public officials who refuse to perform same sex marriages for religious reasons.
• By a more than 2 to 1 margin (65 percent to 27 percent) voters disapprove or strongly disapprove of allowing affirmative action quotas and preferences based on sexual orientation for gays and lesbians.
• By a more than 2 to 1 margin (63 percent to 30 percent) voters oppose a law that would allow the promotion in school curriculum of a gay or lesbian lifestyle.

What happens to failed Catholic schools

They become charter schools, with the same staff, the same philosophy, and the same books. Different uniforms, and no prayers. but really very much the same as before. This is good for the children who would be thrown to the wolved in dangerous inner city schools.
How sad that Catholic schools are closing when they are needed most to stem the tide of secularism.

In New York, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg unveiled a plan last month to transform four Catholic schools in Brooklyn and Queens into charters, which are publicly financed but independently operated. In San Antonio, a major charter school operator is lobbying the archdiocese to consider charters if it is forced to close schools."

Al Gore to kids: don't listen to your parents

It always puzzled me that subscribers to the Culture of Death mindset have few if any children. and those who love life have many. Soon we should outnumber them, and save the world. But there's one flaw in this plan; they own the media, the public schools, the universities and Hollywood. They steal our children's hearts and minds if we aren't vigilant. Glenn Beck and Fr Jonathan Morris discussed this on his show last night. Fr Morris reaffirmed the Church's teaching that parents are their children's first teachers, and Glenn compared Al Gore's speech to the indoctrination of the Hitler Youth.
On the tape, Gore states: "When I was your age and the civil rights revolution was unfolding, and we kids asked our parents and their generation, 'Explain to me again why it's okay for the law to officially discriminate against people because of their skin color?'
"And when our parents' generation couldn't answer that question, that's when the law started to change. There are some things about our world that you know that older people don't know," he continued.
This tactic is nothing new. I remember the biggest argument I ever got in with my dad in elementary school in the mid-seventies is when our 6th grade teacher, Ms Koons, sent us home to grade our parents with an "Are You Prejudiced?" test. I told my father he was a racist because he said that the Jewish people are a race and a religion. The test said no, but now I know who was right. Dad, of course!
Separation of parents and children ideologically is what public schools do best. It's what they are for, according to Adolf Hitler. Guess who outlawed homeschooling in Germany?
So did John Dewey

Good News: Parents Use Internet to Influence Schools
Some parents think it's impossible to stand up for truth in public schools and actually get their voices heard.

Michelle Turner and hundreds of others in Montgomery County, Md., know better. When they were ignored, they tapped the power of the Web.

Turner learned about a pro-gay curriculum by volunteering on a citizen’s advisory committee. But she was outnumbered.

“This is enough," she said. "This has gone too far. People’s voices are not being heard. Parents are not being heard.”

Not content to stay silent, Turner then formed a group called Citizens for Responsible Curriculum and a Web site by the same name, to influence school leadership.

When the grassroots group was unable to gain an audience with the school board or superintendent, it tried e-mail, the media and finally the courts. Last year, its Web site received 1 million hits.

In Fairfax, Va., Cheryl King is using the Internet to work with other parents and students on the True Tolerance initiative. The goal is to place books with a Christian perspective on homosexuality into public school libraries.

It's time to get serious about praying for this election

Before your child begins public school again this fall

You should hear the far left political opinions of the Nationa Education Association. They are the policy making arm of the public school system. They decide the direction of public education; text books, goals, curriculum, and types of administrators which the public schools have. Here is a sample of their extreme anti-Christian, anti-traditional morality agenda.
NEA resolutions include all the major feminist goals such as "the right to reproductive freedom" (i.e., abortion on demand); "comparable worth" (i.e., government control of wages according to feminist ideology rather than the free market); full funding for the feminist boondoggle called the Women's Educational Equity Act; and "the use of non-sexist language" (i.e., censoring out all masculine words such as husband and father).
The NEA even urges its affiliates to work for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA was declared dead by the U.S. Supreme Court 26 years ago.
The influence of the gay lobby is pervasive in dozens of NEA resolutions adopted by 2008 convention delegates. Diversity is the code word used for pro-gay indoctrination in the classroom.
The NEA's Diversity resolution makes clear that this means teaching about "sexual orientation" and "gender identification," words that are repeated in dozens of resolutions. The NEA demands that "diversity-based curricula" even be imposed on preschoolers.

Obama anti-choice on vouchers for poor children of DC

Flip flopping on his former position supporting vouchers for the poor children of Washington DC, Obama now bows to the powerful National Federation of Teachers, and opposes them. Inner city children stuck in failing schools have no alternatives. I doubt many of them will have the chance to attend Harvard or Princeton, like the Obamas.
Barack Obama prefers private education for his daughters but won't give DC parents the same opportunity," said Brian Burch, President of Fidelis, a Catholic-based political, legal, research and educational organization.
"Vouchers are Change," he continued. "Rather than subjecting kids to rotting schools, vouchers have brought change to hundreds of families, who opted for private or parochial schools. If Barack Obama had fought for this program, it would be saved. But he refuses to help these low-income families. By supporting the teachers union, he sadly has become the Status Quo Candidate on education."

No school choice for DC's poor children

Forbidding the Poor from Choosing Good Schools
Congressional Democrats, in a foretaste of their likely education agenda for 2009, have signaled to poor families in the District of Columbia that their school choice vouchers aren't going to be renewed this fall. The news comes as a bitter blow to nearly 2,000 such families in the District, where Congress instituted a pilot school voucher program using federal funds in 2004.
District of Columbia Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D), who supports axing the program, says she met with families receiving the choice funds and "they look completely befuddled." It's no wonder why. The average yearly income for the families that participate in the program is just $22,736. Children enrolled in the program can use their vouchers, or scholarships, to attend a private school, a religious school, or one of the city's charter schools, as an alternative to the public system.
One affected mother, Patricia Williams, credited the program with changing her son Fransoir's life. At the District's Sacred Heart Catholic School, she said, Fransoir has "been developed in so many ways, intellectually, emotionally and in his values. I couldn't ask for anything better." Soon, thanks to Congressional Democrats and their singular devotion to just one form of education, Mrs. Williams and others in the District will lose their choice to ask.

Where is Barack Obama? Jesse Jackson? Al Sharpton?
These poor children are being denied a private education to escape DC's failing public school system. Or has the NEA and the UFT (United Federation of Teachers) bought their silence on this issue?
McCain should step into the gap and champion this cause, it's a true solution to poverty.

Single sex schools are on the rise worldwide

Andrew Mullins of MercatorNet explains why here.
"Lastly, there are strong moral arguments for single-sex schooling. Perhaps there was a pre-industrial, pre-urban time in the village when mixed schooling was natural and socially appropriate. But we live in a different age. A large coeducational school in the modern city can be positively damaging for some children because parents lose all management of the incipient social life of their children. Parents are the primary educators and nobody else has the right to set the moral agenda in children’s upbringing, neither a peer group nor their teachers."
