The pope and the president; first report from CNS

"Pope Benedict gave Obama a mosaic showing St. Peter's Basilica and Square, an autographed copy of the encyclical "Caritas in Veritate" ("Charity in Truth") and a medal marking the fifth year of his pontificate. The president told the pope the mosaic, which was made in the Vatican's mosaic studio, "was very beautiful" and would have "a place of honor" in the White House."
Fmr Vatican ambassador Ray Flynn said on Fox news that he wished cameras were allowed in this meeting. Me too! Then we wouldn't have to listen to all the Democratic spin in this CNS article.

I hope Obama takes the time to read Caritas in Veritate. It may help him.

There is an absolutely HORRENDOUS article written by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend on the NEWSWEEK website arguing, in essence, that Obama is more Catholic than the Pope. When nominal catholics are given a forum to spread this drivel it's really infuriating. However, there are many GREAT comments taking the author to task.

I don't know Ms Townsend however, she sounds like one of the Kennedys
who felt that they were entitled to their own special brand of Catholicism.
Funny that Obama brought the Pope a letter from Ted Kennedy. I guess he thought he was a prominent Catholic and would impress the Pope. I heard the Pope called Kennedy, I hope he heard his confession and that Ted can get forgiveness for championing abortion in the Senate.
