Women are Santorum's biggest supporters

Great piece on IVillage by cofounder of Smart Girl Politics Terri Christoph on how the liberals are wrong when they say women do not like Santorum with plenty of statistical backing.
Fast-forward to the end of March and Rick Santorum seems to not only not have a woman problem, but his popularity among women is on the rise. A slew of recent polls show him besting his Republican rivals Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich when it comes to the affections of women, who are very likely this election cycle’s most important voting bloc. According toPolitico:
"In 2012, Santorum’s strength with women voters was first demonstrated in Iowa, and the trend continued through Southern states. Exit polls show he won among women in Iowa, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Even in states where he didn’t win the primary, Santorum performed well among women: In Ohio, for example, where Mitt Romney won the popular vote, Santorum still won married women by 4 points."
The only reason liberal pundits think Santorum has a 'woman problem' is that they consider us,  as one PA legislator calls us,  "Men with breasts". If you cherish your children and fight for the freedom to raise them in your traditional values, in an economy where you are not worried about paying your bills, then, according to them, you do not exist. Or is it that you do not matter?
We conservababes know that Rick Santorum has a deep respect for women, from his 92 year old mother, to his wife Karen whom he thanks in every victory speech to his beautiful daughters and particularly that little angel, Bella. He know Rick cherishes the same moral values which our nation was founded on, and we trust him to allow capitalism to work unfettered by cronyism and over-regulation.
Women support Rick, I am the Windham County coordinator for Santorum Connecticut, and most of my volunteers are women.
We know Rick values our work in the home and respects our desires for domestic peace and tranquility for our families. We trust him not to offend us by saying we need contraceptives for equal opportunity. His mother and wife are both professional women who bore children and worked outside the home. He respects our intelligence by not being condescending by assuming we are victims who need handouts, but merely a peaceful, prosperous nation in which to do what we do best.
Rick Santorum has confidence in women's abilities to flourish as their consciences are respected and our feminine genius praised.

"Bella" producer Jason Jones endorses Rick Santorum

From the Rick Santorum campaign;
Republican presidential candidate, Rick Santorum, has secured the endorsement of Jason Jones, an award winning movie producer and founder of the Human-Rights Education and Relief Organization.
"I am proud to endorse Rick Santorum for president," Jones said. "We need a president who will have the courage and the conviction to stand-up for the unborn. Rick has a solid record of defending the dignity of every human life. Of all the candidates, I know that I can trust Rick to remain true to his belief.
Mr. Jones, an executive producer best known for his work on the critically acclaimed film, "Bella." Additionally, as a leader in the Catholic community and a staunch advocate for prolife issues, Jones' humanitarian work with HERO promotes human dignity in all stages of life through international education and relief programs.
Rick Santorum is one of our nation's foremost pro-life, pro-family proponents, authoring the law that banned the heinous procedure known as Partial Birth Abortion Ban. He also authored the Born Alive Infants Protection Act and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. Since leaving the Senate, Santorum was highly involved in working with pro-life groups such as the Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council, and the Americans United for Life.
I met Jason Jones while selling my book at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on January 22, the night of the Vigil Mass for Life. We chatted and soon discovered our mutual respect for Rick Santorum. Jason was leading a group in support of Rick  in the March for Life and said he had no signs. I had carried a parade banner with me in hopes of using it, but did not have enough people to carry it along with our KIDS signs, so I dropped off the banner at Jason's hotel, across New Jersey Ave from the Hyatt where I was staying. Jason is an engaging and energetic person, on fire for the cause of the dignity of human life. He was campaigning for Rick at every opportunity, and Rick is fortunate to have an ally in Hollywood. I am honored to support the fine work of Jason, in the film "Bella" and to join him in supporting Rick Santorum for president.

Santorum cares deeply about unemployment

There have been a lot of headlines from the Mainstream Media saying "Santorum doesn't care about unemployment numbers". It is just NOT TRUE!
Its a case of a sound bite being taken out of context. Last night, Rick was on Greta Van Susteren's show and said that the unemployment numbers were caused by too much government interference in the economy and that was the reason the unemployment  numbers were high. He said he didn't care about what the numbers were in November, because even if they go down, the underlying problem of too much government control eroding our freedoms will remain if we re-elect Obama. This must be our focus, regardless of what the numbers are in November.
Rick is anticipating that the Obama Administration will fix the unemployment statistics in time to get him re-elected without eliminating one economy-choking regulation. As it is, the unemployment numbers are doctored to look better, deliberately leaving out those, like me, who have given up on finding a job. I have heard it said that the true unemployment rate is somewhere in the 20% range,  counting those who have given up on finding work. That is the context of his saying he 'doesn't care about unemployment numbers'.
The Obama Administration is expert at covering up the real agenda, increasing government control over every aspect of our lives, with ridiculous overreach like  forcing schoolchildren to undergo lunch inspection while the  administration ignores true risks to children by allowing hardcore pornography on the Internet, defying existing laws. Obama wants to force the Catholic Church and its institutions to pay for abortificacient drugs while they withdraw federal healthcare funds for women from Texas because they passed a mandatory sonogram law which gives women a chance to be informed about what abortion is before she does it.
The Obama spin machine is run by his allies in the New York Times, et al, and is desperate to cover up an abysmal record on the economy, rampant overspending, and his ignoring the financial stress of Americans while he pursues his Bill Ayers, Derrick Bell, George Soros, Jeremiah Wright inspired agenda. Socialism is his goal, and destruction of capitalism is his means to achieve that goal. What will he do in a second term if he is this radical when he knows he will have to be re-elected?
Rick Santorum is the candidate who understands the principal of subsidiarity, the most local level of government possible should be in charge; for example local school boards runs schools better than bloated DC bureaucracies, and parents are the best educators of their children in matters of nutrition and morality.
Rick comes from Western PA a formerly depressed area of the country, which has been experiencing a revival, he wants his Made in American plan to revive American manufacture and bring jobs back from China.
Rick wants to give us the freedom to prosper and raise our families in peace w-thout the nanny state.

Breaking: Obama admin widens abortifacient birth control mandate to college students

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 16, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a move that is likely to reignite the ire of religious leaders, late Friday afternoon the Obama administration announced a proposal that would require universities, including religious universities, to provide contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs to their students, as well as their employees, without a co-pay. This appears to significantly widen the originally-announced HHS mandate, which had only applied to employees.

The White House released the 32-page proposal late Friday afternoon. It outlines three different options to ensure that the health plans for employees and students of religious organizations cover birth control, including abortifacient drugs, and sterilizations, without co-pay.

The proposal, particularly the widening of the mandate to cover students, was met with simultaneous statements of support from members of the abortion lobby.

“Women who buy health insurance from their college or university will have access to affordable birth control, just like women who receive health insurance from their employer,” Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards said in an online press release.

“Covering birth control with no co-pays means college students will not have to choose between paying for tuition and books, or paying for basic health care like birth control.”

“Today the Obama administration took the next step in making sure women get insurance coverage of contraception,” agreed Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America.

“Unfortunately, some politicians and their allies want to take away contraceptive coverage from nurses, janitors, administrative staff, and college instructors,” Keenan said. “They risk losing even more public support if they continue to politicize women’s health through legislative attacks or mean-spirited and disparaging rhetoric on talk radio or in other channels.”

As has happened in the case of announcements from the Obama administration about its birth control mandate in the past, supporters of the mandate issued laudatory statements immediately following the release of the proposal, while opponents were left scrambling trying to make sense of it.

LifeSiteNews.com spoke to a media spokesperson at Alliance Defense Fund, a legal organization that has been leading the charge against the Obama admin’s mandate. The spokesperson explained that ADF attorneys were still sifting through today’s document and weren’t yet prepared to comment.

Sister Mary Ann Walsh, spokeswoman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said she found it unusual the announcement came as part of a Friday news dump on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day.

“I am surprised that such important information would be announced late Friday of St. Patrick’s Day Weekend and as we prepare for the fourth Sunday of Lent,” she said.

“The bishops will begin analyzing it immediately but now is too soon to know what it actually says. The bishops will consider how the proposal gels with the principles outlined in United for Religious Liberty, the statement that the USCCB Administrative Committee issued March 14.”

Both she and Sister Carol Keehan, president of the Catholic Health Association, declined to offer any further statement to media Friday afternoon, saying they needed more time to study the proposal.

Sr. Keehan’s silence stands in sharp contrast to her prior knowledge and endorsement of the president’s February 10 “accommodation.”

The public may comment on this proposal for the next 90 days. To submit a comment, click here. Follow the instructions under the “More Search Options” tab.

Actor Eduardo Verastegui Endorsed Rick Santorum for President

Internationally acclaimed actor and film producer, Eduardo Verastegui today endorsed Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum.
"Senator Santorum is the man who understands the heart and needs of our families," says Verastegui, "he values life and faith and the freedom to protect those treasures. More than just valuing them, his career has been a record of fighting for these values. He understands that freedom is what allows each person the opportunity to live and work hard, to raise their family, to have a say in how their children are educated, to worship and live their faith according to their own conscience. Santorum has also been a courageous leader in the defense of human dignity, standing up for the most vulnerable in our society during his time in office and bearing witness to the sanctity of all human life through his family's personal testimony."

Verastegui has starred in television and movies--most recently the award-winning life-affirming film "Bella, and the soon-to-be-released "Little Boy" and "For Greater Glory".

Mom's cancer no longer a reason to abort her baby

Those of you who know me know I follow Catholic ethics 100%. There is NEVER a reason to abort a baby, even if the pregnancy endangers a mother's life. In those cases, such as ectopic pregnancy,  surgery may be done to remove the uterus or Fallopian Tube, which secondarily causes the child's death, but if mom would have died,  the baby could not have survived in most cases anyway. But you don't intentionally kill the child.
Ever.
Most people I debate on this subject do not understand this. For example, they say if a mother has cancer, she should automatically abort her child. New research, published in The Lancet and reprinted  by the Jerome Lejeune Foundation in Paris, has declared that cancer can be treated without killing mom or baby;
In recent years, in fact, the therapeutic strategies adopted when a cancer is diagnosed during pregnancy have evolved considerably. "Less than twenty years ago, the attitude most often proposed in this situation was to terminate the pregnancy to be able then to treat the cancer, considering that the administration of chemotherapy was inadvisable during pregnancy," explains Prof. Morice. However, the treatment of cervical, ovarian and breast cancers"increasingly involves preserving the pregnancy when this strategy does not impact on the prognosis of patients regarding their cancer."
Medical science is constantly coming up with life-saving techniques.
Now, why don't we take this same "love them both" mentality with babies diagnosed with Down syndrome?

CHRISTIAN SINGER AND THREE-TIME GRAMMY WINNER MICHAEL W. SMITH ENDORSES SANTORUM FOR PRESIDENT

The Rick Santorum for President Campaign is proud to announce that it has received the endorsement of Michael W. Smith.

Michael W. Smith said: "Rick has been a friend for many years and know him personally as a man of strong faith, character and conviction. He is committed to his family and has consistently and faithfully served our country. Rick has fought for life, for marriage and for the least of these. And that is why I support my friend - Rick Santorum. We need a leader who will stand fast to his convictions and lead our country with an unwavering moral compass. I know Rick Santorum to be a man of great character - and worthy of the office of President of the United States."

Michael W. Smith is one of Christian contemporary music's most awarded and renowned artists - winning three Grammy Awards and 40 Dove Awards. What unspoken message does a "Wrongful Birth" lawsuit send?

A Portland OR couple sued their obstetrician for failing to diagnose their now four year old daughter with Trisomy 21. They were just awarded $3million.

The Levys were awarded $2.9 million dollars to pay for the extra care that Kalanit will need. According to experts, Kalanit is not expected to be able to live on her own.
David K. Miller, the Levys’ attorney, has expressed that this lawsuit was not about whether or not the pregnancy would have been aborted but about the Levys’ love for Kalanit. In a statement to KATU Channel 2 in Portland, Miller explains, “These are parents who love this little girl very, very much. Their mission since the beginning was to provide for her and that’s what this is all about
”Michael Coren host of "The Michael Coren Show" asked me a provocative question in an interview last fall, "When you tuck your daughter in at night, does the fact that there are many out there who want to kill your daughter haunt you?"

I replied, "Although I don't come across these people in everyday life, I read about them in the news, and it motivates me every single day for the past six years to write about the joy and beauty of my daughter with Down syndrome to overcome their ignorance. I want to create a better world for Christina, where she is welcomed, included, and valued for her unique contributions to society. "
But the Levy's aren't ignorant, they have had four years raising their daughter. It cuts me to the quick when parents seek damages for the 'wrongful life' of their own child. I think ahead to when she can read, and wonder if she will be surfing the net one day and come across her own name in an article. What will go through her mind? How will the Levy's explain this to her?

No matter what they say, its bound to come across as 'we regretted your birth and wanted the chance to abort you."

I know several people who were told too late in life that they were adopted, and the shock they experienced, but at least they had grown up with parents who chose them. This little girl (I am not using her name in hope that she'll never find this article) does not have that consolation. It makes me angry for her, and at the parents who did not love her enough to either appreciate her unique gifts or give her up for adoption. There are over 200 parents in America waiting to adopt children with Down syndrome, they don't have to raise her if they do not love her.
The attorney's claim that the child will never be able to live alone and that the huge amount of damages ($2.9 million) are needed to help her because she cannot live on her own doesn't convince me. First of all, people with Down syndrome are living fuller, more independent lives than ever before, and overcoming the cognitive difficulties associated with Down syndrome is the subject of several promising clinical studies around the world(Acosta, Mobley). By the time this young lady is old enough to live alone she may able to take medication which improves her thinking and memory to the point where she can function independently. If she can't there are many group homes available to support her in a fulfilled, happy lifestyle.

What further angers me is, that, the Levy's are promulgating the false notion that one needs to be wealthy to raise a child with Down syndrome. I have encountered that mindset in several articles, and I know it is not true. Certainly therapy and help can be purchased, but I have found that, with minimal effort, a plethora of free or insurance-covered goods and services can be obtained, behavioral training, additional therapy, summer camps, respite care, grants for things such as backyard fencing, and even an Ipad. I have never wanted for help in supporting my daughter's development.

Lastly the Levy's are sending a message to obstetricians in this nation by their lawsuit; if you have any doubts about whether an unborn baby has Down syndrome, you had better err on the side of caution, diagnose Down syndrome, and advise the couple to terminate, or face career-wrecking malpractice lawsuits and insurance premiums. There is a dearth of medical students willing to enter obstetrics for this reason, and this will make it worse.

Or, perhaps the new maternal blood tests like MaterniT21 which promise nearly 100% accuracy in diagnosing Trisomy 21 in early pregnancy, will make such lawsuits irrelevant, as they will effective eliminate the nearly the entire population of people with Down syndrome.

St Patrick's Day Novena

Thanks to Scott P. Richert Catholicism Guide at About.com for this insight into the Breastplate of St Patrick. I will make it part of my morning prayers this March in preparation for his feast day. In addition to baking my Gran's recipe for Irish Soda Bread and decorating the house in Irish green.

The Lorica, or Breastplate, of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is best known for only one of its verses (the one that begins "Christ with me"). But the full version, printed here, incorporates all the elements of Catholic morning prayer: It is anAct of Faith (expressing the Catholic teaching on the Trinity and on Christ); an Act of Hope (in God's protection throughout the day and throughout life, as well as in eternal salvation); and an Act of Charity (in the love expressed for God). It is, therefore, an ideal morning prayer, especially for those who have a devotion to Saint Patrick.

The Breastplate of Saint Patrick

I arise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through belief in the Threeness, through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation.

I arise today through the strength of Christ with His Baptism,
through the strength of His Crucifixion with His Burial,
through the strength of His Resurrection with His Ascension,
through the strength of His descent for the Judgment of Doom.

I arise today through the strength of the love of Cherubim
in obedience of Angels, in the service of the Archangels,
in hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
in prayers of Patriarchs, in predictions of Prophets,
in preachings of Apostles, in faiths of Confessors,
in innocence of Holy Virgins, in deeds of righteous men.

I arise today, through the strength of Heaven:
light of Sun, brilliance of Moon, splendour of Fire,
speed of Lightning, swiftness of Wind, depth of Sea,
stability of Earth, firmness of Rock.

I arise today, through God's strength to pilot me:
God's might to uphold me, God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me, God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me, God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me, God's shield to protect me,
God's host to secure me:
against snares of devils, against temptations of vices,
against inclinations of nature, against everyone who
shall wish me ill, afar and anear, alone and in a crowd.

I summon today all these powers between me (and these evils):
against every cruel and merciless power that may oppose my body and my soul, against incantations of false prophets,
against black laws of heathenry,
against false laws of heretics, against craft of idolatry,
against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
against every knowledge that endangers man's body and soul.
Christ to protect me today
against poison, against burning,
against drowning, against wounding,
so that there may come abundance of reward.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ in breadth, Christ in length, Christ in height,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through belief in the Threeness, through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation.
Salvation is of the Lord. Salvation is of the Lord. Salvation is of Christ. May Thy Salvation, O Lord, be ever with us.

The truth about the Catholic vote

Excellent article on American Catholic from David Hartline,  which I hope the Democratic strategists never read.
The divide between the truth of the election results and the punditry of the mainstream media is seemingly growing every major primary election night. Perhaps none more than the recent Super Tuesday results, especially those of Ohio. How could it possibly be that Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania Senator won the youth vote, all voters under 44, and the married women vote? If one listens to the mainstream media, especially that of NBC, MSNBC and the New York Times one would think the only people voting for Rick Santorum would be rust belt pre-Vatican II ordained Catholic priests, and an amalgamation of southern characters such as Jed Clampett, Mr. Haney, as well as some assorted extras from the set of Deliverance. However, the true exit poll results tell us something quite different.
Hartline goes on to give an in-depth analysis of what is the Catholic vote, why it's not monolithic, and how it got that way. And how its changing for the better, thanks to the youth. He describes his youth as a pro-life Democrat, working for the presidential campaign of pro-life Jesse Jackson. You heard me right. Jackson was pro-life until he ran for president.
At a pro-life pancake breakfast on Long Island, former friend of Rev Jackson and frequent guest on EWTN, Delores Bernadette Grier, told how Jesse who was himself nearly aborted as a baby, was a pro-life activist with the Archdiocese of New York, and  convinced her to become active in the pro-life movement. She said he was told he had to be pro-abortion in order to run for the presidency and gave in.
So many Catholics followed suit, in order to be accepted by the wider culture, and have the luxuries they craved, they used birth control and voted pro-abortion. They are the Cathoiics who voted for Obama and like,  Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, are cultural Catholics from the Coast.
They have no clue that there is a large, vibrant John Paul II generation just now coming of age to vote. Its been said that home-schoolers are Rick's secret army, and even here in Eastern CT we are organizing for him, and praying for him. Rick knows, I think he intentionally chose Steubenville, OH for his speech on Super Tuesday, since it is the home of JPII Catholic bastion, Franciscan University.  I bet he has a lot of support there. At the end of the month, I will be taking my daughter Gabbi for her interview and campus visit, and will investigate the Santorumentum in that school.

John Kerry, another cultural Catholic found this out the hard way in 2004 during a campaign rally there. Catholic Evangelist Scott Hahn's son led half of t he student body to the rally carrying signs reading, "You can't be Catholic and Pro-abortion!".
I pray that such a surprise awaits our president on a November eve, when we deliver a win to President Rick Santorum.
